Hello everyone, I noticed this new event and thought that there would probably be quite a few here who would be interested, here is a link http://www.castlehillcarfestival.co.uk/

We really do need something like this in North Devon so I hope it will be well supported,

Cheers,

Ian

Yeah nice event.

just 3/4 hour for me, I'm definitely going on one of the days, Devon's answer to Goodwood F.O.S.? A chance to stretch the V50 up the hill from Tivvy.

the website said:
For those who are keen to take their vehicles out onto the open roads, the North Devon Sports and Classic Car Run will allow competitors to take in the wonderful country roads and breathtaking scenery of North Devon
Is it me or does this read as: turn up, pay ,then bugger off onto the public highway for a predetermined route/race confused
Looks like a good event and I will be going. I just hope with pentillie and this they don't push each other into the ground.

There's also the Petroc Motorsports day (didn't go ahead last yr)

Which for some reason folks on PH don't seem to like mentioning - some kind of taboo ?

At £30 a ticket, I won't be going to this

Petroc is about a £10-15, and has more going on

Ticket prices are £30 for family of 4. £12 per adult and £6 per child age 6 to 16 yrs,

If you want to display you P&J it is just £5 for you + 1 passenger for one or both days.

Petroc only ran their Motorsport Fun Day for 2 years, it was a great concept but was not well publicised or attended and the organisers must have laid out a fortune on the various attractions which I can't imagine they got their money back on. The location at Chivenor was good but I assume that restrictions put on the event by the MOD meant that the site was too spread out over a vast area, it did however have the making of a great event if it could only have survived a few more years.

I'm sure if there is enough interest in the Castle Hill event that we could have our own disply area, North Devon could really do with a quality car event,

I looked at attending this but then read the following indemnity notice

INDEMNITY NOTICE – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

I/WE AGREE TO FULLY INDEMNIFY THE CASTLE HILL CAR FESTIVAL LTD, CASTLE HILL AND ITS APPOINTED AGENTS AGAINST ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE, INJURY OR LOSS, HOWSOEVER CAUSED, ARISING FROM MY INTENDED OR ACTUAL ATTENDANCE AT THE CASTLE HILL CAR FESTIVAL, OR FROM ANY LIABILITY ARISING FROM ANY BREACH OF THE CHCF Ltd. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY, BY WHICH, IN SUBMITTING THIS ENTRY APPLICATION, I/WE AGREE TO BE BOUND.

Never been asked to sign anything like that before to show a car.

I’m also getting a little jaded paying private/profit making organisations for the privilege of showing my car and making their event happen. I’m happy to support charity events but organisers would get a much higher turnout of cars if they stopped charging the owners, therefore attracting more paying public and making their profit that way. If they want to see how it’s done look at Wadebridge Wheels, a charity event held annually and a good show.

Indemnity insurance is probably the largest expense of such a show. I would hope for a highly reduced ticket price if they weren't actually insured for the event.
