...further afield, within reason.

Hi all,

My car has bad stone chipping on the back edge of the arches (mainly on the front) and the chips have joined up to the point where it's now surface rust.

There are various small marks, chips and scratches elsewhere and the front bumper is looking sorry for itself. Combining these things, and getting them done to a good standard would be good.

I could put up with the marks and treat the arches myself, and get an ok match (sensible option - it's not worth more!), but if it could be combined...

Anyway the problem is that the car is in Nuvola Blue - which is a bummer!

Is there anywhere happy to deal with awkward paints like this? (for those who don't know, it's a pearlescent: pale blue with gold flake in the lacquer)

I have a spare front bumper which I could do most of the preparation on, which I guess might help if i were to get the bumper done.

Anywhere that has experience, and would be happy to give it a go? Any ideas on cost?

Cheers

I use Alan at Old Forge Garage on the Haydon Industrial Estate near Radstock for all my paint stuff.

Completely repainted the bonet of my Zircon metallic Jag and sorted a deep scratch on the rear wheel arch for less than £400. Has also done the nearside of my RRS which got badly scratched and fully rebuilt an MGB for me.

Really nice to deal with but don't expect marble floors and a coffee machine!

Hi all,

Thanks for the suggestions - I have heard good things about JB Autos in Bristol and Phillips in Yatton Keynel as well.

Tomorrow I will ring around and see.

I might be after a wheel refurb if it can be done reasonably

Cheers

JB Autos.

Used them many times, lots of people on here have used them too. They're spot on and fairly priced. He does a lot of work for Porsche too.

A friend has just opened a bodyshop in Radstock, small place but his work seems very good and he's still getting his name out there so he's a bit cheaper, called PDM Bodyworks

I don't know if Weston is further than you want to go, but I use http://www.motorbodiesweston.co.uk/ and can only speak very highly of them.

The Z has just been in for a front end repair and the quality of work is fantastic. The Z is Azure Blue which is a biatch of a colour to get right (about 7 different colours in one from memory) and their match is spot on.

If you're interested drop me a PM.

Hmm, I need to start shopping around too. I've now done the roof on my M3 so the next major "to do" is the paintwork, boot lid definitely needs repainting as the lacquer on a previous job has failed... And the bonnet leading edge. And a few other dings!

A spray can dropped on my wing and chipped the top of the wing, I took it to Ding Master by Filton, my Chim is imperial blue and when they had finished with it, you could not tell that it had been chipped, it was perfect. that was about 18 months ago and it still looks good.
