Hi potential neighbours,

Im currently living in the south east and looking to move to Bristol long term. I have been applying for jobs through jobsite in the electronics sector and seem to be having VEEERY little luck with replies, perhaps people have been put off by my current location.

Do any of you know of any electronic hardware jobs being advertised?

Electronic engineering is quite a varied area, but there are plenty of tech companies in Bristol. A few examples: HP, Airbus, XMOS.

Cheltenham, Gloucester, Bath and Swindon are all commutable from Bristol if you live in the right area.

What industry have you or are you currently working for?? We've got jobs going where I work, but it's quite a specialist line of work and there's always the issue of getting security cleared.

As others have said, Bristol is fairly well placed with good defence contractors local. RR, MBDA etc, all have positions on Securityclearedjobs.com which is a good place to look, you dont need SC clearance to apply and its not hard to get. Defencejobs.com and indeed.co.uk are also worth a look. also try comapnies direct, there are loads of consultancies like Atkins and Frazer Nash in the area. There is a security cleared expo at UWE in April too, as I said, you dont need to be cleared at the moment, just be able to pass the necessary checks.

As has been said look into some of the aerospace consultancies. Assystem might be a good starting point as they have just won a load of electrical work.....

I am exhibiting at the defence recruitment fair to be held at UWE in July, I had not heard about one in April, can you provide more details?

I work for Engineering consultancy Frazer-Nash which has has two offices in Bristol employing about 150 people. We're currently hiring in a wide range of skills including Electrical Engineering disciplines and experience with BAe as well as SC status would be valued. See: www.fnc.co.uk for current vacancies but don't be put off if nothing suits as not all vacancies are on the website all the time. Apply anyway. We're 500+ staff across 8 UK offices and 2 in Australia.

Good luck!
