Volvo 850 clutch in Truro...
Discussion
Hi,
( every 5 years I pop up and actually write something on here.... )
My eldest is a student in Truro.
In the summer he was given a slightly battered N reg Volvo 850 estate.
It is pretty good at what he uses it for though - which unfortunately is Surf boards to the beach rather than books from the library.
He also needs to use it for getting to placements.
Anyhow - he reported an an intermittent running fault. It misses a bit, sometimes a lot, and occasionally dies completely and can be very reluctant to re-start, last time I was in it he was at a busy roundabout for about 5 minutes.
I am sure a decent obd2 code reader will track that fault down, so it doesn't really worry me.
More of a problem is the clutch, which slips outrageously.
Does anyone have a recommendation for someone local to him who could do a cost effective repair?
Or, bearing in mind the value of the car, should he wait till it gives up completely, then push it in the sea?
cheers
Mark
Thanks,
Will give them a call.
I had a quote from a reputable firm who are local to me of £545 + vat. Maybe we can shave a bit off that.
If it was in good nick and mechanically faultless it would be a no brainer.
Actually given that it isn't in good nick or faultless, then I guess it still is a no brainer.
So... the search begins.
