UPDATED - SEE SURVEY QUESTION

Ladies and Gentlemen

I am trying to organise the December SWPH meet - Proposed date will be Sunday 9th December and it will have an unusual theme of CHRISTMAS !

Initial plan will be 10am meet (prob Exeter) Drive out over Dartmoor and then back to a pub for a Christmas lunch at 12.30. Partners and guests welcome as always.
I already have a pub in mind - recommended by someone on the forum, not that far from Exeter.

Once I have checked out the pub, booked a table and got some menu's I will ask you to confirm if you would like to attend, how many people and probably ask for your food choices in advance.

Watch this space
Thanks folks.

We're definitely in! I just came on here to post up about a Christmas meal, but a drive and Christmas lunch ticks more boxes. Much prefer this to an evening meal in Bristol.

Looking forward to a blast around Dartmoor in the Tiv.

the vxr8 is going. i think. it is advertised. its cost me around 10k to run it this year and 5k of that is in fuel because of the miles i have covered. those kind of running costs are too large for a daily drive. unsure what to do next. part of me just thinks to get a hot hatch and save a shed load on running that. another part says buy a weekend toy and a snotter to carry me around during the week.

Well ever since my go faster Mondeo mk1, that had to do everything, was a lovely car, but relatively expensive to run for us back then 19mpg + front tyres every 9k or so, I've run a weekend toy and a shed and never looked back. So much nicer to have something hiding in the Garage for when the mood takes and if You fancy using it for work once in a while, you can.

Count me in for a Christmas run. smile

+1 for a weekly shed
means the weekend toy can be anything, doesn't have to serve any purpose other than be fun to drive

Ooh, a what car thread in the SW!!!

Depends whether you want:

Handling
Speed
Noise
Looks
Luxury (inc toys)

Or a combination of some/all. Give us a budget and %age by each criteria. We'll all have suggestions and they'll be pretty varied!

The order above in no way reflects my choice wink

budget is 10k or maybe 20k if there is something special and a snotter. so pretty varied although i am seriously considering a 6k hot hatch to run around in and save loads of money.
i think i have considered every car possible at some stage. noise is important but i cant stand the all show no go approach.
i have no idea of what to get. just to show you how varied. here are my current scratchchin list
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-MERCEDES-S320-CDI-A...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STUNNING-2009-59-FORD-FO...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MK-INDY-R-2012-62PLATE-R...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2010-VOLKSWAGEN-POLO-1-4...
and a bit over budget

one thing is a must. i refuse to pay £475 for tax anymore.

You can just about get a BMW E91 M3 V8 for the higher end.

Or a BMW Z3M as a toy, plenty of change for a daily.

Same principle with a Nissan 350z/Lotus Elise/VX220 etc etc

If you want sonething different, build/buy/have built a kitcar of sone description.
