Can anybody recommend somewhere that does shot blasting local to Bristol/Bath? Preferably soda blasting for aluminium body panels.

Try Carl in Banwell I've used him plenty of times.

I've had good results from ABC in Nailsea. Very reasonably priced too.

I've used ABC in Nailsea as well. Which reminds me... I need to take another set of wheels there to be seen to.

Another vote for ABC in Nailsea from me.

Couple of chassis amongst other things, always a great job.

Im in Bristol and looking to have a delicate alloy bike frame stripped, so need a gentle soda blast which it seems ABC are good at. How much does such a thing usually cost?

Ring 'em and ask. Chap's name is Noel.

For reference blast and powdercoat of a steel wheel was £40.

I've just emailed them:

"Greetings,

I have a bicycle frame that I require prepping for a repaint. I would either need it totally stripped, or if possible just the topcoat roughing up with a very gentle blast.
It is made of soft aluminium so needs to be soda or walnut blasted, not sand or shotblasted. I do not require any painting of any sort do be done by yourselves, just the surface preparation.
What would an approximate cost for this be please? And could it be done whilst I wait or would I have to come back for it?

Regards,

[mat777]"

They replied:

"Hello Sir

I am sorry to say that I unable to blast the frame to your specifications, we refurbish lots of cycle frames both steel and aluminium however.

Best regards

Noel Skelly "

Anyone want to hazard a guess to why? Do they not do soda blasting?

try argos for the bike frame.. i dropped a wheel into them and their blasting equipment was too soft to handle it!
