Hi chaps

Has / does anyone use Paddock Motors Exeter?

I need to book the M3 in for a service and possibly front discs and these guys (from the website) looked really good.

I live near Plymouth so any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

If it's just a service, there's a good BMW indy in Plymouth RL Motor Services (behind Wolesley Road Coop).

Anything a bit more involved or "off the book" MB Motorsports.

Paddock are excellent. Have used them for 7 years on 6 different BMW's.

Mark is an ex BMW senior technician and really knows his stuff. Bob is a great bloke and knows how to treat customers.

More importantly, they are honest, fair and very reasonable with their pricing.

You won't find better IMO.

+ 1 for Paddock. Just been in for 3rd oil service on my 535d. Great service, well priced. Wish I knew about them when I had my M3.

Thanks for the info chaps much appreciated, sounds like a good garage I will definitely head over there to get my front discs done.

Unfortunately reading the small print to maintain my BMW warranty it has to be main dealer so its off to Ocean Falmouth for the service.

I'm fairly sure it is illegal to state a main dealer must be used to maintain warranty, as far as I'm aware block exemption ruling means that provided oe or oe quality parts are used and a vat registered garage carry out the work.

Have a look here

http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/general-advic...

Particularly....
Changes to the BER in 2002 included clauses intended to increase choice when it comes to servicing of a new car. You cannot be obliged e.g. as a condition of warranty, to have your car serviced by a franchised dealer.

Other changes at that time permitted multi-brand showrooms and no longer obliged dealers to combine sales and service/repair – though most have continued to do so.

The work can be carried out by an independent garage as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule. Independent garages generally have much lower overheads than franchised dealers so their hourly labour rate is also cheaper.

Although you are free to have your car serviced at whichever garage you like - and benefit from the cost savings - you can't then expect much help and goodwill from the manufacturer if the car develops a major fault just after the warranty has expired. Manufacturers often cite lack of loyalty on the customer's part as the reason for their decision not assist with the cost of a repairs after the warranty has expired.

Paddock supply a lot of oe and oe quality parts with block exemption certificates available if required.
( I work for a very large parts distributor of whom Paddock use )

took my e34 to Paddock when I was down at uni in Exeter. Service was excellent they were even happy for me to source my own part for the job. They gave me an e39 as a courtesy car which was pretty good fun
