Best roads around Bristol
Discussion
Hello folks,
I convinced (conned) a good friend of mine who previously had no interest in cars into swapping his Yaris for a mkII MX-5 (1.8) recently and on Saturday, in the almost sun, we went for a decent drive out from Bristol over the mendips.
Our route was pretty much this (if it makes any sense):
https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=West+St%2FA38...
So it included most of the more scenic, and fun, roads that I know in that area - Cheddar gorge, burrington combe, the old bristol road up from Wells, Dundry hill (Wells Rd) as well as blasting past Chew Valley Lake and stopping to buy strawberries by the side of the road
First time I've driven an MX-5 properly and I must say I loved it, felt far more precise and stable than my car (FTO) though slower and with a distinct lack of aural pleasure. And my friend says he "is finally starting to get it" which is nice, he'll be a PHer before long I'm sure...
Anyway no real question but did we miss anything in that area, are there any really fun, scenic sights that we must go past next time we're out.
And does anyone fancy doing the same kind of route en mass at some point? (we saw a lot of other mx's, plus 2 astons, a caterham, old morgan and a fair few other interesting things).
