Fancy coming along and going for a blast around some coastal roads? Any meets coming up or planned drives etc?

Just missed Sherborne Castle cars event.

Next run is Wilton Supercar event, this runs up the A303 towards Salisbury, see the other threads

count me in sunday mornings are the best in this area. I have a route from Yeovil to Shaftsbury then across to Blandford then back to sherbourne then Yeovil. Most sundays a clear run with no traffic.great roads to use the toys.

I went to the Sherborne castle event, lovely cars on show and good to see them in this area.

Is there no local meets once a month? or any Breakfast clubs in this area? I fancy a nice early Sunday morning blast with some fellow petrol heads smile

Don't think there is anything regular currently, but that doesn't mean we can't organise something. Have you got any particular routes or breakfast venues in mind?

No, never done anything like that before. Was hoping something was already setup, pretty sure they used to have one? I remember being invited once when I had my last Escort.

I do not have the time to arrange something like this though due to a young family and too many hours at work but would certainly turn up for a drive and a chat smile

I'd be in for this if weight of numbers would spur someone on to organise something!

Bit late notice, but is anyone free tomorrow?
A lowly, but keenly driven (Note- not illegally) 1.8 Focus could lead the way, i have some favorite roads and haven't been out with any of the PH lot this year.

Bit late notice for me for today. Car is filthy and it is wet frown Would be keen to do some coastal routes when the Olympics has left Weymouth. Would be nice to see others cars as well, get bored of just seeing the same brands at ford shows etc. Would be good to talk to owners as well and see the running costs and issues along the way etc smile

This could be the start of something good. I have been looking for something like this for a while. As a Sporting Bear and the South West rep I am always on the look out to organise events and this regular meet could be a good place to form a solid group that would be interested. There is the Avenue Drivers Club every 1st Sunday of the month we could all convoy to other that be good to share ideas

Right, there seems to be enough interest for this to happen so let's just throw it out there and see what happens!

What about Sunday 26th August OR 2nd Sept?

Start 0930 near Yeovil (TBC), use Juddy's route to Shaftesbury, then to Zig-Zag hill and then the high road to Blandford. From there head down to Corfe Castle then along the coast to Weymouth, along the sea front and finally down to Portland Bill for a lunch stop/picnic?

All up thats about 90 miles so should take a good couple of hours and takes in some spot on views and roads. Any Takers?

I'm still interested, but given that that is the Bank Holiday weekend I would guess that roads in the area (particularly near the coast) will be very busy. It does sound like a good route though. smile
