Was anyone there earlier? Insaw a few PH smilies on cars (i dont have mine on still!). Weather wasn't too bad for the most part.

Those of us on the Westfield stand seemed to have an unusually problematic day with the sound test now it's round the corner. Anyone else 'score' higher than when it was by the Strawford centre? Mine was 100db!

I was also wondering what caused the track to be red flagged for so long before lunch?!

I think the red flag was as a result of the Saxo having an "off". At least he came back with the passenger door stoved in.

Dark green Saxo? I did see that. Seemed an awful long time though unless he mullered the tyres? A mk1 or 2 Escort blew a Zetec engine to bits out there too so I was wondering if it was oil clean up.

Yep, the Saxo was dark green. Perhaps it was the Escort though. I went off for a mooch so missed the Escort.

As ever the driving standard varied significantly today. A reasonable number their though.

Hey,

Anyone get any photos of me? biggrin White BMW with Warsteiner livery.

I think the red flag before lunch was a bit of a mix of accidents.

Guy let his girlfriend drive his MR2 turbo with the weird roof intercooler and she put it into the tyre wall by the tower (THE tower not tower corner).

Then maybe the Saxo.

And someone dropped oil everywhere.

Wonder if the oil was the Escort! I'm guessing someone may be newly single tonight by the sounds of it! Old paddock is a silly place to crash!

Thanks for the photo! It's certianly not a bad looker is it smile

i found a few more over here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Your right about the MR2, it really was an odd place to crash on a dry track. In the wet i know i go sideways around there but in the dry it's flat out.

So, either, the car had enough power/slip to slide in the dry (which i'm doubting because i passed the male driver in an earlier session), or she hit the brakes mid corner then over-corrected the slide?

I dunno if any of you were there but crist did we nearly have an expensive crash around 4:45. There was someone in a little red convertible (like a Stag or something?) pootling around, i slowed up behind him approching Camp and then mid way through the corner they spotted the chequered being waved and stoop on the brakes! Queue me nailing the brakes to avoid hitting them and then the 3.2 Alpina 3 series that was coming up fast behind me locking up hard to try and avoid stuffing it into the back of me while i was trying to dart left to avoid it. Talk about a brown trouser moment!

P.S if the Alpina driver reads this, I did see your anger as you were next to me, hope it wasnt aimed at me as i was in just as awkward situation moments before. I also made the marshalls aware of the guys poor driving.

I know Howard needs the money, but since when is a Saxo either a classic or a sports car?

You and i both know this action day is really just a free for all. Since when is a BMW 328 a sports car? or a classic? yet i still attended....

Ok, mine is a little different but those who i attend with drive tyings like Fiat Cento's, Honda Civis, Clio's etc etc. there were a few Mk1 escorts with us but they are few ad far between. Without the strangers wouldnt the day be a little empty?

You are perfectly justified on this occasion, one of our guys confirmed this particular Saxo driver was driving like a complete a-hole on track. Blocking overtakes etc. It's little supprise he stuffed it....

I was there in my Black Escort on track 9:30 and 10:30. Was a really good day and the driving standards at least on my sessions were good, certainly a lot higher than the other action days. In fact the quality was so high that up until that red flag incident I think they were slightly ahead of time on the sessions!

Anyone out in those sessions at all as I have some video footage which I may upload!

If I remember correctly...around 3-4 years ago they changed the layout of this action day and would not allow certain car clubs to attend (one being the Peugeot Sport Club) as they didn't meet the criteria of being either classic or sports, after this event and the following year they realised they had made a huge mistake by the massive drop in revenue from track action and spectators who pay to watch the track action, since then they have gone back to the original layout of basically any club!

Here is a quick video of some parts of my sessions. I have collated it into "Overtakes" otherwise it gets even more boring than it already is!

Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qI2KY6ybj-Q&fea...

Whatever the proposition of the day it 95% works. The classic & sports car day is so much nicer in the paddock and on track. I always feel really old at the Spring Performance Action Day now and I'm only 30!
