Being new-ish to Swindon area, I was looking for someone to do a decent wheel balance job on the XK 18" alloys.

Took a punt with Imperial Tyres, Dunbeath Road, Elgin Industrial Estate, Swindon, SN2 8EA and I have to say it was a very thorough and professional outfit with what looks like a top of the range machine.

It takes every measurement before you start, the wheel is thoroughly cleaned first, these use plastic covers on all tools etc, and it will even sense if rotating the tyre on the wheel can help any irregularities in tyre manufacture/wheel.

Car is completely different to drive and I was amazed how much the wear had effected the weight from original fitting. All of this with a friendly and knowledgeable service .. rare these days.

They also have two very accurate 4-wheel measuring ramps their too.

Thoroughly recommended thumbup

Rgds all,
Robocop

PS am not on the take;) ... just think good service should be praised in these days of indifference

That's good to know as my next Wheel + Tyre combo will need a decent balancing by the sounds of it.

So they did a good quality job. Was it good value though Robo? smile

Hi GT,

I don't think you pay over the odds for the Gucci machine. I think it was something like £17.50 per wheel, so came to £90 with all VAT etc. for all 4. Took a good 45mins, but it was drive straight in when I turned up unannounced. thumbup

I've always used Imperial for tyres, balancing and alignment.

Hi Pints,

Yeah not made any meets for a long time. Work and home stuff has been busy - not in a good way frown. Just had to have a full front suspension rebuild on the Jag which highlighted the wheel shimmy issue - hence trip to Imperial.

Hope to make a Kemble B'fast meet soon
