Boring lot in the southwest this weekend !!
Hum! Surfing last night, up at 5.oo this morning. More Surfing, what a beautiful morning, such a chore living in Cornwall and driving to the beach on a perfect silent Saturday morning, sun glinting over the moor. Just the odd early van to scoot past now and again. Now used up my fuel for the week end, so just washed the Z and put it back to bed. Lawns next. Enjoy Your Day and give us a report on how the new Lancer Compares to the XKR,. Must be quite a change. Plus those back seats will come in handy.

Giles, you need AKA after your new user name. Been out testing my mates new GT2, very nice bit of kit. Been tuned to RS power........600bhp. Lovely bit of kit, can see why Martin is so keen on his GT3. Sorry I missed this, hope you had a good day. Boring lot in the southwest this weekend !!
In all my years I am still to see any 911's actually giving it the beans properly. 600hp sounds awesome, i'd like to play with that
I have watched the Cup races, but that doesnt count. I'm refering to never having my "doors blown off" by a 911 on the road.
I cant say that about a Noble !!!

It's not always about how fast you get there.
It's how you get there.
Drive one, then you'll 'get it'
How's that nice saloon car
Unfortunately I have driven 2! it was only a 996 carrera and a 964 but I was dissapointed. It's not always about how fast you get there.

I was also put off by the volume of 996 engine cylinder faults. I think its just the germanic cars, i dont like the bland style of german cars like Audi or BMW and the porker felt very similar.
I think if I had one, it would need to be a GT version or a turbo and i'm not willing to spend that much on a third car.
Anyway i'm not knocking the car, I just find they are never driven on the edge. I think your silver Turbo was the quickest ive seen one pushed, and that wasnt at full chat.

Agree Giles.
I wouldn't have a c2 or c4 to be honest. Very nice but just too civilised for a weekend sports car.
Turbos are monstrously quick but ultimately a bit one dimensional.
GT cars though are a different animal altogether
We tested a new 4S and even with 400+ bhp it didn't feel quick. This thing is twin turbo and as you say Martin, it is a different beast. When I drove it I wouldn't say it was that much quicker than mine, but much more refined. I wouldn't have a c2 or c4 to be honest. Very nice but just too civilised for a weekend sports car.

If you want to see one ragged, look out for a white one with black wheels around the Crediton area!!

Martin - only one thing for it, your going to have to prove me wrong and take me out in yours !

Have to agree. I never got the 911. until I did a few runs, (Passenger) at VMax, in a 996GT2Ruf. The first time we swept around the top bend onto the main runway was a revelation. I had no idea a road car could go around a corner that fast, in perfect harmony no drama, just pure brilliance. The straight was positively boring in compassion. I've driven faster cars but never one so polished.I wouldn't have a c2 or c4 to be honest. Very nice but just too civilised for a weekend sports car.
