O/T Olympic Torch
Discussion
Same here, I thought i'd better join in & go along with it but as it went past you really felt some pride that its here & England needs to look good!
Couldn't resist a pic of my son as a torch bearer just before it came thtough St George, everyone cheered!
But then it was all to much for him

Was at Cheltenham Racecourse on Wednesday, working, although managed to delay my afternoon break until 7pm to be able to watch the Torch arrive in the hands of Zara Phillips.
Have to say that it was quite a strange experience. Uplifting somehow although difficult to explain the feeling & the buzz that went through the crowd.
Great day made better by getting my photo taken with the Torch as I left the Racecourse late in the evening.
Also went to see the Torch leave Gloucester yesterday morning.
Oh dear..... It was a shambles.
Also found out that my daughter has got tickets to the basketball, I think, semi final. Told her she won't enjoy it so she should give me the tickets. She told me to sod off.....
Have to say that I would like to go to at least one event just to be able to say that I attended. Wasn't bothered about the Games before this week however now I am quite looking forward to them.

We saw it the same day as it passed by Bitton Station. I could barely be bothered to go to see it, shocking as I'm less than half a mile from it, but I'm glad I did.
Already bought my Olympic football tickets so really revved up for it now!

I was there too, it was packed, wasn't expecting that at all! Bath Road and Montpelier were also heaving with people.Have to say that it was quite a strange experience. Uplifting somehow although difficult to explain the feeling & the buzz that went through the crowd.

I was there with some council bods in one of the hospitality rooms (delegation from our Chinese twin town were visiting, and speaking a bit of Chinese, I was hauled in to help - they must have been desperate!), but I was in the grandstand / paddock bit for the torch arrival, and the crowd went crazy.
Again, I was hugely cynical about this (mainly because I applied for over £700 worth of tickets, and ended up with sod-all), but seeing the buzz did change my opinion somewhat.
Whoever thought up the idea of the torch relay was a genius, it really does give a good build-up to the big event.
I'm now quite looking forward to it. Even though I will be watching in TV.
