As the title says really. Have just recently signed up to the forums as I'm getting a bored in my old age and this seems like a good place to look for a good bit of banter and ASWing.

First a little about me, I'm 21, work at the Lexus dealership in Cheltenham hanging off my spanners, just finishing up my 3rd year of my apprenticeship and still thoroughly enjoying it.

Now about my car (awaits ridicule), MK1 Saxo VTR in some shade of red.
Currently modified with a 40mm drop on Spax PSX adjustable damping rate, VTS wheels, Janspeed 4-2-1, Kamracing stainless steel straight through culminating in a 2.5" exit to give a lovely rasp at 3000rpm.

Before any says anything, I currently have a 16V lump stripped down awaiting funds for a full rebuild with hopefully some PH3 Newman cams, biggest hurdle at the moment is a sever lack of readies still being an apprentice but come July when I qualify it shall be put back together.

The main purpose of putting it into a 132k mile shell is to get the engine sorted and get it run in nicely and pulling well before I get a decent low mileage shell with decent bodywork as mine is rather sketchy at the best of times.

Be kind and I hope to maybe attend some meets and get to know everyone

As Chim said, not about the badge it's about the enthusiasm - we even have people in their 40's driving ASBO cars as they offer easier retrieval of keys from the boot than a Jaaaaag - I think you'll find us a friendly bunch.

Welcome!

It's so good to find somewhere that doesn't hold badge snobbery in high regards.

If people ask me 'Oh what car do you drive'

'Saxo'

'Oh'

Really grinds my gears lol

Hairdresser's cars aren't good for key retrieval either wink

You may well have the mick taken out of your car/you, but only on the proviso you give it back!

As the reader's cars section of the forum shows too, as long as you show passion and enthusiasm people will always want to engage, regardless of what you drive. If you've got some pics and fancy writing up a build of your car then that is a great place (bar the odd moron now and then) to give people more info. I absolutely love following a good project.

Look forward to meeting you at the AV8 meet!

lol I've got a corvette, "they're ok but they don't go round corners" ,"pram springs" etc etc oh and my favourite yet I had a kid trying to bend the plastic panels like clarkson did on top gear at cwc and his parents just watched I couldn't believe the lack of respect. I told him I was going to run him over (wanted to punch his dad in the neck)so it doesn't matter what badge you have someone will have a problem with it

That is simply astonishing. (In my mind...) I'd have dragged the whole family and stuck them on the archery target the other side of the field and let them be used for practice!

I know what you meant!!! I get one of the cars serviced there regularly, really impressed with them as a main dealer except they keep trying to sell me a Lexus 600 thingies to replace the A8!

See you at the breakfast club on Sunday?

Indeed I shall be coming down to breakfast club on Sunday.

And also, definitely get an LS600 instead of the Audi. No bias obviously lol

Genuinely shocked, at this. While it still riles me to see kids putting hands on the cars or belts/toggles etc getting pushed against the car I get they are kids. Although I was always so careful when looking at someone's car as I am now, some aren't. For the parents to just watch them doing it though! Grr...impressive restraint.
