Has anyone yet punted around the suggestion for a CG meet this year at all? Had a quick search and couldn't find anything. I'm bloody useless at arranging stuff, so will not volunteer myself, but I know there are some out there who are very good at such things (you know who you are).

I've been to one of these before and it was a fine turnout in a stunning location. I was thinking of bringing one of my young nephews along to a SW meet sometime this year, as he's really getting into cars now.

Some issues with the venue after last time. Unlikely we'll be back in the foreseeable future.

That is a shame. Such a great venue.

From reading on other motoring forums quite a few clubs have held meets since the issues and have had no problems.

I think it was more the size of the meet that was an issue, I sometimes sort mini ones when I have a weekend off and the weather is looking nice. They don't mind a few cars turning up, its just when hundreds turn up that they get upset!

It wasn't really the size of the meet but sufficient antisocial behaviour exhibited that spoilt the day for everyone else visiting and using the Gorge.

Larger gatherings simply make for a bigger risk.

And thats one of the downsides with Pistonheads, often a member who is one here is also a member of another club who mentions it to them who are non phers & they all turn up aswell. (err that was me with the Esprit group redface ) Its not a bad thing, its just sharing the love.

Like arranging a wedding, you want your old mate to come along but that then means also inviting his wife & 4 kids so 6 places are taken up. Either you look at a bigger venue or dont invite your mate. frown

A way to ensure its a small meet is to arrange it at short notice, instead of making the date months in advance & having a list of 100's of cars that may turn up just say its this Sunday, if your there your there, if your not then see ya next time. Its also good as you may have an idea of the weather smile

Indeed, thats the key. I tend to post up a thread about a Cheddar meet midway-ish through the week. Then only a few people see it and it doesn't have time to spread to other sites.

laugh Sounds like a good plan. How about Sunday 5th May....2013, thats not too far away. I'm sure hardly anyone will get wind of it in such a short time period!

Am i not right in thinking that the PH meet was great, 1 car park, coned off and controlled. Unfortunately the Zetec owners club turned up with 200 attendee's and the site was flooded. Well behaved tho.

But the day was just too crowded.

So if PH group organised another one, short notice or long, it should still be ok ?

As long as nobody locks their keys in the car of course (thought i'd say it before anyone else)

I'm 10 min from the gorge. A couple of us take the s2000's for a spin every so often, never a problem with 4-10cars.

If you were to do a meet I'd be tempted to try a week day evening. From now on the gorge will be very busy at the weekend with tourists.

Meet in the evening and then head upto the castle of comfort for a bite to eat (they happily accept fairly large groups if booked.)
