Ahead of the Pentillie Festival of Speed PetrolBlog are organising another Dawn Refuelling this Saturday.

The plan is to meet at Sourton Down Services at 7am and then drive on to Pentillie Castle for a coffee and some good old bacon sandwiches.

I'll be dragging the 944 out of its forced hibernation for this one, just go easy on me as I can't drive it hard for fear of chomping through my entire supply of engine oil!

So who's up for it?

I'll also be taking it fairly easy probably due to the weather conditions - the car is running quite well.

It's unlikely I'll be up in time for this, trying to make the Lizard run on Sunday.

What time will you be at Pentire? Might meet you there though.

Looks like we'll be getting there at around 8.30.

Unfortunately I won't be stopping long at the Castle. I am now spaniel sitting at my old man's place from about 10.30 (near Okehampton) so will need to grab a cup of char, a bit of brekky, and get the hell out of there again.

PS: 90 minutes to drive to the castle? Its not that far is it? biggrin

We do have to account for my broken car, and struggling to wake up at scary o clock (again).

It'll probably take me a while to remember what a car is when I first look at it in the morning.

I think I'm ready. Got half a tank of petrol in the Porsche, it's full of oil plus a load of spare stuffed behind the driver's seat just in case.

I just have to wake up at a horrible time again to leave here at 6am. That's the bit I'm not looking forward to.

Oh just so you know I will stink of oil wink

Thanks for starting this thread, Rob.

Looking forward to seeing some hardy souls in the morning. Little red Swift Sport has arrived and has a full tank of petrol.

Plan is to head north to Holsworthy and then down to Launceston. Discovered the road on the Volvo V60 Polestar Dawn Raid last weekend. Looking forward to driving it in reverse. Obviously there is a more direct route and some folk are going straight to the Castle for 8. Sounds like the Pentillie team are expecting 20 or so.

Should be good. See you in the morning.

It's worth the effort!

Was up at 4.30 on Easter Sunday to take the Volvo on a three-moor dawn raid. Enjoyed near empty roads. The 2,700 word review is online if you're interested (or are looking for something to put you to sleep!).

See you next time I hope.

I think I am going to have to go the direct route sadly as I am really time pressured - plus I have driven that road from Holsworthy down, and it is pretty good. If I'd not done it before I might have been tempted. I think I'll take the 386 to Tavi, then head out on the Gunnislake road which is quite windy and fun. smile

You arse, I just picked my Porsche up from just outside of Holsworthy. I could've left it there and had longer in bed! wink
