Hi folks,

Just spent a lovely few days in the Forest hunting boar and thought it'd make a great location for a bit of a meet and run at some point. 1 hour or less drive from a few decent sized places (Bristol, Gloucester, Chepstow, Newport, Cardiff, Monmouth etc etc) and it has lovely roads, great scenery and plenty of good pubs etc.

Just wondering who might be interested really? smile

Putting the feelers out for the moment but might update with actual dates and plans at a later point if people are keen biggrin

I'm Bristol based and would probably stay overnight somewhere to make the most of it.

I may be up for it. I occasionally do "forest blasts" early on summer mornings before the 40mph brigade take occupation

You should, it's cracking. Quite a lot of really well looked after, scenic and relatively quiet roads as well.

Seems it might interest a few people. I'm thinking of mountain biking over there one weekend and perhaps tring to get a few people together for a hoon at the same time. So Sunday in the sun in late April/early May perhaps.

Alternatively, just get a group to drive over from Bristol purely so we can all zoom away from the toll boths on the bridge evil

I wish.... way too many drivers who have only one speed... 40mph regardless of the road or where they are...

Agree that the Toll Booth Grand Prix is a bit of fun though... smile

I was there for a few days recently and out and about early (7am ish) and late (11pm onwards) and found a lot of the roads fairly empty, certainly far better than most around Bristol anyway biggrin

So perhaps earlier the better in this case.

I know what you mean about Bristol, as I travel in to Prince Street quite a lot...

I'd suggest early would be good, although on Sundays there are a few people out and about early - making their way to boot fairs.

Perhaps consider a loop around the Forest and then making your way in... e.g. M48 to Chepstow, then Chepstow round to Monmouth via Tintern, from Monmouth a quick blast on the dual carriageway up to Ross, from Ross across to Newent and then aim towards Lydney via Mitcheldean and Cinderford and perhaps down through Parkend... There are a couple of good pubs on the edge of the cricket green in Parkend.
