So... I've lived at the foot of the Cotswolds for a while now, but have no idea where to start.
I'd like to start with short routes, say 5-15kms - ideally in a loop so I/we don't have to retrace steps or get lifts back to the start/vehicles.
Any bright ideas PH?

There are a couple of walking guides for the Cotswolds, usually available from your nearest Waterstones (other bookshops/mapshops are available).

There's also the Cotswold Way long distance path that you could do bits of.

However my best advice would be to buy the local 1:25000 OS Maps and just explore.

You ought to give geocaching a try, LG.

Even if you don't, their website allows you to search for caches which are often in a nice series of the sort of length you're on about.

www.geocaching.com is your friend.

Hello LG, Hope your well.

If your looking for some good walks go to Cotswold Outdoor (http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/) just off the A419 near South Cerney.
They have loads of maps and if you ask some of the staff they can point you in the right direction wink
I've not done many in the Cotswolds but I do like the longer walks round Avebury and Savernake Forest though they are not
exactly in the Cotswolds.

There are loads of walks! Its pretty hard to know where to start. The walking guides suggested are a good idea.

thumbup Bought the OS map for Burford, Chipping Campden, Cirencester & Stow-on-the-Wold and the AA book 50 Walks in The Cotswolds.
Keep an eye for posts about fixing sprained ankles and getting lost within yards of main A roads.

Thanks all.
