Castle Drogo Breakfast Club - February Meet.

Corin, There's a meet planned on the other side of the moor, 12th or possibly 19th of Feb. Heading down the coast road SW, to sample some of Cornwalls finest. Plus I can't make the 19th. Agree Drogo is a top spot for a regular meet though. Would recommend you move it back a couple of week ends.

Be up for a meet wherever, so long as there is no more road salt put down, I'll be there.Corin, There's a meet planned on the other side of the moor, 12th or possibly 19th of Feb. I suggest we drop the January thread, and carry on with this one.
I'd suggested Sunday 12 or 19 Feb @ Sourton Down cafe as the meet point instead of Exeter Services.
Seems to be a few folks around interested in heading north westerly in the Bude direction.
Seems a bit of interest in the Atlantic Highway, so that could be included.
Could end up at Castle Drogo as per last meet, or back to Sourton Down.
There are a few options as to which specific roads to use, which could be worked out on the morning.
Similar route length/time to Jan meet
Woody's Transport cafe

My car is booked in for a week of repairs and renewals from the 13th onwards, so should be back and able to actually use full power on a hoon.... I'm a definite provisional
Usual route I think is around 70 miles? That's assuming a point to point. Often we meet at Exeter, not Sourton, but head over that way as part of the route.

I have a route we could use. It is around 70miles but more of a loop than point to point. Got a decent stop half way. Will get some printouts to bring if you like. If numbers are big will send a few around to potential stragglers or racers may go for a drive tomorrow check it out time wise and stopover potentials.

My logic for suggesting Sourton was that it might be a more logical jumping-off point for heading North West Devon/North East Cornwall.I'd thought something like 11am or a bit later at Sourton would gives folks coming from the east time to meetup at places like Exeter, folks the south time to meet up at Plymouth for example.
Would give those coming from the south a more direct route to the meet point too.
Would also open the meet to more folks from cornwall, who probably might be put having to drive past sourton to Exeter, only to retrace thier route back to sourton.
Think on the last meet quite a few did close-on 70miles just to get to the meeting @ Exter.
Ok then I have done a reccy today even though it is snowing was still fun
Proposal:
Meeting point: sourton down cafe. 11am to 11:30. This is appropriate for food big car park and everyone can get a tank of v-power. Also is easy to access for all with possible convoys coming from exeter and Plymouth.
Route: my idea involves a trip down the dual carriageway or the old road to an undisclosed location near launceston followed by a stunning route out to the coast followed by running alongside said coast possible halfway points are bay view inn lots of free parking quiet this time of year. brendon arms just your average pub again plenty of free parking. the weir a little diner if people rather had a snack two car parks free but can get busy. After here a possible stop for fuel if someone forgot to fill up at the start and a trip back to the a30 for everyone's ease to get home. I don't know who usually starts the ball rolling but here is my shot
1) Lee st. Vxr8 Bathurst at sourton down

I won't add my name until closer to the time when I know my car is roadworthy again.
You could always take the old A30 to Lan'son? Quite a fast flowing road. Assume my fave road of the B3254 will be the way to the Atlantic coast and then back via Holsworthy? or more north and come back down the A386?

Yep agreed on the old road to launceston. I do believe you are right with the b3254 also. Trethorne to davidstow? Not back via holsworthy a couple people suggested the red post to launceston so thought that would be a good one back to the a30. If people wanted some more miles the Atlantic highway up to bideford is a good hoon but drags you out a long way away from the 30. This would be the 386 you were talking of to bring you back You could always take the old A30 to Lan'son? Quite a fast flowing road.
