Heads up! Talivans on the Portway
Discussion
I notice that "they" took the opportunity of the recent (-ish!) subsidence on the Portway to mess about with the lanes and introduce good-old bus lanes into the bargain.
You can still turn left up onto BVR from the Portway, but its a bus lane all the way up to the lights with a separate filter light. Makes turning left a bit of a lottery, especially if you have a car with a crap turning circle (like mine!) and have to make the turn from the right-hand lane.
I predict big accidents at this junction before long. Nice one, road "safety" improvers of Bristol sChity Council...

Always remember my old man telling me the Portway was a speed trap - back from the 70's at least. The police used to use the old layby at the bottom of the main rock climbing area iirc.
That's the one they were using yesterday. They park there and point away from the bridge zapping cars from the rear. You can't see them as the traffic queue (from the lights under the bridge caused by the bus lane) hides the van (which is impossible to spot from the front anyways).
Wonder where they'll hide today? No mention on their website of any of this either

Hmmm...must remember this, my job involves frequent trips along the Portway. My current small number of points have nearly run out and I ain't getting any more now!
I have also seen them perched with patrol cars in the layby's by the cliffs, where they do all the rock climbing. A WPC was in the process of pulling in a flashy looking merc as I went past. She had a big grin on her face as she did it....
