How bad will the queues be a the Severn Bridge on Friday?
Discussion
Use the old crossing on the M48 rather than the new crossing. The price is the same and it really doesn't take any longer in travelling time. However, most of the through traffic stays on the M4 and joins the queues at the Second Crossing toll booths.
The Police are no less vigilant on the M48 than on the M4 though.

Nicer drive on the M48 too. Biggest slow down will be around Newport and the tunnels. Bloody borinng long 50mph sections...
I went this way last Saturday, the 50mph parts were no longer....Nicer drive on the M48 too. Biggest slow down will be around Newport and the tunnels. Bloody borinng long 50mph sections...
Not sure if that was just the time of day, or if it's always like that.

+1.The Police are no less vigilant on the M48 than on the M4 though.
Now that they have introduced credit/debit card readers on the new crossing paying (by that method) takes many times longer than with cash (unless you use the coin bin option) leading to much more significant queueing.
