Update

The chosen date is now Thursday the 29th December

The starting point will be McDonalds in Minehead (Postcode: TA24 6DG) at 11am.

Then around 1130 head to Porlock to potentially go to Exmoor Classic Cars museum.

Then onto Lynmouth and then drive back along the moors, which should look something like this:

I must admit I was thinking more Somerset i.e. Cheddar or even North Devon perhaps, but its up for debate!!

That's bordering on trolling!!!!

Christmas is "me time" anyway, I don't need to escape the family so will probably give it a miss. I'll check back though and see when/where is decided.

I've resurrected last years topic here: click. If nothing else it'll show it's 1. a genuine suggestion and 2. it was popular last year.

Thats all well and good for those who are happy to go to Kemble (which for the record I am smile ). I'll keep this going for those who don't fancy going up to Kemble and keep this a bit further South, so Cheddar or North Devon.

Sounds good, we could meet in Minehead and then head down the A396 for a drive. Do you know a good place to meet in Minehead? And maybe even a good pub somewhere along the A396 to finish up at?

If you're starting in Minehead. I'd go Porlock Hill to Lynmouth, stop at the cafe next to the coach park in the village then go Brendon common, Simmonsbath, Exford, wheddon Cross, Dunster. Or, at Exford; go right to Winsford onto the A396 then up to Wheddon Cross that way.
As a footnote; the Sandpiper at the top of Countisbury hill's (Lynmouth) good, as is the Rest and be thankful at Wheddon Cross.

Cheers,

James.

Wasn't there a PHer in Lynmouth called Cooky who has a pub ?

Ran some meets last year iirc

It appears there are now 3 potential SW meets, with some kind of north/south divide developing - I'm getting confused ! drunk

That sounds and on a map looks good to me! Do you fancy leading a convoy then sir? If so what dates are best for you?

There is, although theres not much parking around there. If Cooky is happy to host then that'd be good. I can't imagine we'll get a vast amount of cars as we did when he sorted that meet so the parking shouldn't be too much of an issue.

There are 2 "end of year meets" one for the North and this one for the mid/South part of the region. I think the breakfast meet is going to be a regular meet rather than and end of year one. Ideally it'd be good if we don't clash on the dates for the North/Mid meets as I'd like to go to both being about 50mins drive from the 2 locations!

I could do the 24th. But will be away for the other dates.
I drive that route most weeks. There are some great open corners over the moors and the views are awesome. It should be reasonably quiet over the Christmas period too.
So, if you guys decide to do the 24th, I'm around.

Cheers,

James.
