Hi All

Recently picked up a new car with a little bit of cosmetic damage. When negotiating I kept £250 in my mind as a ballpark figure to get it sorted and managed to knock exactly that off of the asking price.

Unfortunately now I've come to get it sorted the quotes are some way above that.

The first two images show one area of damage - a bit of denting and paint damage on the wheel arch area and the second two images show a scratch above the fog light which has gone through to the plastic beneath.

The two quotes I've had are £350+VAT and £360+VAT - getting close to double what I was hoping to spend getting it sorted.

Just wondering in PH's infinite wisdom - do these quotes sound about right? It seems like a lot of money for what I would have thought would have been fairly straight forward blemishes to repair.

Appreciate any guidance...

is that for both items? To be honest, depending on what the car was for, I'd be tempted to just try a touch up kit on the scratch on the front bumper. The rear arch does look like a tough one though. Would imagine it would need sanding back, smoothing off, then respraying/blowing in. Not easy at all. frown

Yeah the quote was for both bits.

I got an itemised quote from the second place and the cost of the wheel arch bit was £220+VAT so might get that done and then attempt to touch up the scratch above the light myself...trouble is I know if I do that sooner or later I won't be happy with it and will end up getting it done anyway. I can't believe how much it's going to cost for two pretty minor blemishes! Teach me to assume I guess lol!

If this is your daily driver I wouldn't rush to get these done. Unfortunately if you drive it everyday and park it on street or in Tescos/Aldis/Morrisons etc you will have a few more scuffs to deal with. Sadly a reflection on the general driving standards these days (not yours but other people) frown

Yes it's my daily driver, and whilst I know what you're saying makes sense, I know I won't be happy if I don't get it done! It's only a Ford Fiesta but I love to love my cars and although it's not much, it's mine and love to take care of my cars.

I've had a quote of £260 for both issues which is much more like it (especially as i knocked £250 off the cost of the car), but can't find any reviews or anything online - a company called Dented Pride based in Swindon...

Sounds about right, you could get it done cheaper but there is a reasonable amount of work for the quarter repair. There is no swage line so you would have to paint most of the quarter and then blend and lacquer into the door etc. Not as straightforward as it looks. You could save a lot of money just painting the damaged panel but it would look worse than it does now.
