Yep folks,

It's that time of the month again. The lease on my current parking space is due to expire shortly, and I need a new one near to Harbourside/Millenium Square.

Happy to pay going rates, but most of the "obvious" options such as @Bristol are way too much money (£180pcm for a 24/7 spot!!)

Hopefully will be getting my resident's parking permit back next year some time which will Let me buy another silly car allow me to save £100 a month, but in the interim need help!

Creative solutions welcomed.

Ouch! Its a long time since I worked there, but you could always park for free om the South side of the Harbour. But thinking about it, I built apartments on that land smile (Now called "The Point")

hehe You're behind the times- The land's all being snapped up. There is cheaper parking over there, but it's a bit of a trek. It is probably my fault for buying a flat without parking- But overall it made sense, and still does- If I get the residents permit back it's not such an issue.

May I ask why did you lose the resident's permit?

Short story- dhead neighbour.

Long story- Applied for a permit in 2007 when I moved in, eventually topped the "waiting list" in 2009 and was issued a permit. Happened to discuss with an annoying, complaining neighbour the subject and said I had got a permit. He had been refused, so obviously complained. A week later I got a letter from the council explaining that due to an "admin error" mine was being rescinded.

Made some enquiries and basically my street is not listed on the local TRO as a street eligible for residents parking- Simply because it didn't exist when the TRO was written in 2005. It's an odd situation though as half of the flats in my block have a Canon's Way entrance- Which is listed.

Council are currently reviewing the TRO and my street will be included from early next year- However it may well be that I have to go BACK on the waiting list, unless I can talk nicely to Parking Services!

OP how often do you use the car? Is it a weekend toy or a daily driver?

Or why not put an anti-capitalist sign in the window and park it on college green with all the soapdodgers? They don't pay for harbourside accomodation with parking.

Daily unfortunately- Due to my patterns of work and cycling in most days I need 24/7 access!

Millenium Square is about 5 minutes walk - past the Llandogger, diagonally across Queen Square, over the horn brigde.

Cheers for the suggestions, but it needs to be much closer- If this was a second car it would be different, but unfortunately for something in regular use any more than a couple of minutes walk is a complete pain in t'arse!
