Its work's golf tour this weekend, and Newquay is where we're going to be based. First time the tour has ventured into Kernow so good to get some local knowledge of where to go. Heard of somewhere called "Divas" - not sure what kind of establishment that is? wink

Could get messy. We do tend to be drinkers who play golf, rather than golfers who go drinking. wink

I am probably after more about the best drinking establishments - We tend to favour the decent real ales. I expect plenty of St Austell brewery ales (mmm Doom Bar!) can be had down that neck of the woods.

Ive not been out in Newquay at night, but infortunately its become a bit of a dive. Its a stag night venue for all the 17 year olds. The best news is that its now "out of season" so most of the 'Emits' or 'grockles' will of gone home.

Im getting old, so I only recommend the Headland Hotel, probably not a venue for your group.
There is a good bar & restaurant at Fistral beach called Blue something?

Otherwise 80% of the businesses are bars

Haven't been to Newquay for a good few years but Berties was always the best place to end the night, a thoroughly decent club and usually not full of children or people with bad attitudes, like Tall Trees was. Neither sell much real ale though. You probably want to go to Leadbellys if that's still there? Proper ale pub that. Usually had live music at the weekends too.

Also...Doom Bar is Sharps Brewery, not St Austell Brewery. Sorry, I'm not usually one to correct but felt this was essential knowledge whilst in Cornwall!

Thanks for info. I don't want any of the locals to lynch me, even if I did grow up in a part of Devon not far from the Cornish border. biggrin Think I got my Tribute mixed up with my Doom Bar. biggrin

Good weekend had. Ended up favouring "Central Inn" as they had a good real ale on tap. Definitely quite odd as the place/town was basically full of pi55ed up ASBO teenagers. Kind of realised this before even getting to the pub by the amount of Po-Po presence! I think our golfing group stood out like a sore thumb biggrin

Well, did reasonably well on both the drinking and the golf. Came 5th out of 11 in the end - the mizzerly drizzly weather over the 3 days is not condusive to me playing at my best. Difficult to grip your shaft when it is wet (oo-er missus!)
