Hi All,
Planning to meet the inlaws this Sunday for a spot of child and dog friendly lunch somewhere near Bath. Have been recommended Bathampton Mill, but the tripadvisor reviews are a little sketchy, so is there anywhere else we should be looking at?

Cheers

Chris

You could try The Jolly Sailor near Saltford, just outside Bath. It's down a few narrow lanes etc but it's a cracking pub, foods pretty good but you need to get there early. Else you could try the White Hart at Ford, but that's north our of Bath on the A46, then off to Marshfield kind of way I think

I think child and dog friendly always presents problems (at least it seems to for me!)

North of Bath, try the Hare and Hounds towards the racecourse on Lansdown.

East side, the George Inn at Bathampton, on the canal to keep everyone happy.

South, the Wheatsheaf at Combe Hay is in a delightful spot. A bit further out but I love the Duke of Cumberland at Holcombe, dog chews on the bar!!

West, agree the Jolly Sailor is worth finding.

Good luck!!

Food was poor at the Hare and Hounds last time I was there.

Between Bristol and Bath is the Compton Inn.
I'd pick the George in Bathampton over the Mill too.

Just on the outskirts of bath on the bristol side is the Boathouse. We went there a few weeks ago, and were quite surprised. It has recently re-opened after changing hands. There is the Bristol / Bath cycle path to walk along should you wish to.

A bit more out of bath there is a small chain of pubs. One in Tolldown - Dyrham, one in Burton and one in Box. Only used the one in Tolldown, the one in Burton gets good reviews too. Don't know about the one in Box. Website

Have fun choosing

Jolly Sailor is nice, Bird in Hand on the same road is ok if it's full. Is the Boathouse still carvery only on a Sunday? it's been a while since I was there. Compton Inn is a good call, Lock Keeper in Keynsham http://www.lockkeeperbristol.com/ is great, though the road it's on is traffic controlled single file at the moment as they repair the bridge yet again.

I went there last Saturday evening - the food was fantastic! The best I've had anywhere in a long time. Highly recommended.

Bit nearer to Bath, The Kings Arms at Monkton Farleigh is good. Child & dog friendly. Just double check your bill at the end, they over charged us, the last two trips..

One of my regular pubs (nice walk from where I live) & my springer likes it! Nice friendly staff, good beer, food is good pub food, but nothing fancy.

Could well see you there! Usually attached to a black Jack Russel who thinks he's a doberman!

Ended up here and had a fantastic meal - great roast and then puddings to die for! Lovely part of the world and looking forward to the in-laws moving into that neck of the woods on their return from France later this year.
