How bad is the traffic likely to be going from the Honiton Road (A30) towards Rydon Lane for 9am on weekdays? I'm used to Bristol traffic and I'm not sure if this is likely to be a walk in the park or just as bad?!

Cheers

Depends what you're used to really, I live just off of Rydon Lane & go into the office for 9.30am to miss the 9am rush hour. It's no worse than anywhere else I guess, may even be better than some, even with the roadworks currently going on.

My Sat Nav says 40 minutes for the entire journey, I know that on a normal daytime that's easily do'able but I'm unsure how much longer it's likely to take at rush hour. In Bristol it might take 40 minutes to do 3 miles into the City, do I need to anticipate that much extra, or just a few minutes longer?

40mins from where, to where?

The where to where doesn't really matter, I'm just concerned about the last bit, the A30 Honiton Road (before the park & ride) to Rydon Lane and how busy that might be, or not.

Loads of roadworks around junction 29 / A30 / M5 due to them building a whole new town out that way. Best to add on some time. To get to Rydon lane personally I would join the M5 @ 29, come off @ 30 (i.e stay in the left hand filter lane) and then go up the dual carriageway past Sandy Park entrance and heading up right past Tesco to hook up with Rydon Lane. (assuming this is the Rydon Lane where all the industrial units/offices are?)

Thanks chaps, I'll try the motorway route although a couple of days I've got to go via Sowton to drop off at the College - it looks like if I do that I can go right at the roundabout and come out towards Middlemoor which might be a bit better.

I'll leave some extra time but not plan for Bristol Monday morning chaos!

Try to avoid Sowton Industrial Estate if you can. Really jams up at rush hour. Not sure which college you are going to, but if you want middlemoor, best off going straight on over the roundabout at the back of Sowton, past the Barn Owl pub on the right, then a rover car sales place on the left, then left at the small roundabout next and come to Middlemoor from that direction.
