I thought it would be good to have a day-out on the great North Devon roads, before we all go into "Winter" mode !!
Im thinking Sunday 25th September. All on "A" roads & still warm enough & possibly some sunshine , too ! Meeting at Whiddon Down Service station at 9.30-10.00. There's hot drinks & food on sale for those who need early morning sustainance !! A route of about 90 miles with a few food & toilet stops on the way. It would be great if we could have a mix of kit, sports & saloon cars. A good end to the summer ! Lets have a good one !!

Potentially. Would it be a round route coming back to Whiddon Down?

Thanks for your responses chaps. Yes , the route starts & finishes at Whiddon Down. I thought that would be central for everyone. As its just off the A30. Lets hope the weather gets it act together !!

As the weather seems to be picking up around mid-week, I thought I would give the route of the "North-Devon Run" a try out. The route will take in Holsworthy, Bude, Torrington & Whiddon Down. It should please all tastes as we have coast, towns & open country 'A' roads.

Sounds good, just persuading my other half to come along. Any ideas for a good lunch spot along the route? smile

I am still quite a potential and the route sounds good. I know the road out to Holsworthy from Okehampton. Quite nice in places, but from there north is a bit of a new area for me, so should be good fun. Vaguely familiar with the A386 back down toward Whiddon though.

Glad you guys are getting the idea of the "North Devon" run ! As I mentioned previously ive been on a recce & its loooking good !! I did 110 miles in 3 hours , not bad in a MX5 eh !! There are several places we can stop for lunch or elevenses. Bude, Torrington or a pub on route ?
Hot food & drinks are available at Whiddon Down from 6 am & fuel at £1.35 a litre (best price in the area !). It will be good to see as many faces new & old on the day. It sounds like a good mix of cars are gathering. MX5's to a Noble etc. Not to mention Scotts Quadra.

Car off the road for a while frown

Top driving roads round North Devon - the A386 between Okehampton and Great Torrington has corners to test the best wink
