My wife kindly bought me a driving experience day......and she researched it, chose one where you get lots of variety and enough track straight to get upto a ton.

So yesterday I drove a Ferrari 360 Coupe & Spyder, A Lambo Gallardo, A rally spec Mitsi Evo8, a subaru WRX STi rally spec, various handbrake practice cars and even a off road disco.

Part of me was hoping i'd love the 360 and WANT one, but unfortunately it was the Gallardo that got me all excited by the drive. The 360 was great, but not as fast as i'd expected (its all relative i know), I just thought its so beautiful it must fly, but the Gallardo was the quickest and most envolving in a multi-senses kind of way.

The more interesting comparison was the evo Vs scooby, I drove in two of each and have definately decided I would have an Evo every time rather than the scooby. The Evo also took the track beating better than the 2 scooby's that were showing many signs of wear even tho the Evo example was older.

If anyone is interested it was through driveme.net, they are a growing company with 4 more tracks being built on the site over the next 3 years. Very organised & very busy, i reckon upto 200 drivers went through the doors that day, although many had the cheap £99 experience with one car.

Anyway, sorry for moaning on, i just wanted to share. I welcome any opinions.

Sounds like you had a good time. The only time I went on something similar, I was very disappointed, the organisers were (understandably) very protective of their cars and really didn't let their patrons get close to exploring the higher rev range or limits of adhesion.

glad you enjoyed your day, almost worth marrying her for!!

I recently had a driving experience day ... 360, Gallardo, GT3, Vantage, R8 and also had a few hot laps as a passenger in Atom.

All great fun but my preference for driving was:

1 Gallardo (by quite some way)
2= 360/R8
4 GT3
5 Vantage (very disappointing)

I suppose the sensible choice for the `daily hack` would be the R8 - need to pay the mortgage off first though.

Know what you mean about the 360, great looking car but the one a mate of mine had (360 spider) was all mouth and no trousers. We test drove the 430 when that came out and were blown away, that is a quick car, the 458 is even better!!!

Had Scoobies and Evo's and both interiors were as plane as sticks, for me the STI I had was the better car although the EVO was quicker. Had these a few years ago so things may have changed with build quality etc.

Good to hear you had a great time, Lambos are built for the ave, so too small for me, do love them, great sound!!

I was quite impressed that these guys let me take them upto the red line, very little restriction other than not using first gear. Happy for me to floor the 360 & Gallardo in second and third, in fact they encouraged it.

They were well funded, had 12 supercars on track to use and they had there own storage hanger & team of mechanics etc. Also took me on 4x4 track in disco's and other things to do
