Wondering if anyone can help. I need to go and visit my dad in the next few days, he is in Sidmouth Cottage Hospital, I think also called Victoria Cottage hospital. EX10 8EW.

I would like to go there in my Gallardo as it looks like a fairly nice run from here in Fareham, but I am a bit worried about parking it once there. Does anyone know of anywhere decent where I could park within walking distance of the hospital? Somewhere that I would be able to leave my car without the worry of if it will get scratched bumped spat on etc. I will only need it to be parked up for 2 or 3 hours. Whats sidmouth like? is it respectable? or Hoodie town?

Thanks in advance

Sidmouth is generally a very respectable little coastal resort/town, mostly attracting the older generation. It is of course very busy this time of year though, as you would expect.

Parking is a bit hit and miss. I usually try to street park to avoid paying in the public car parks, but that often results in several 'laps' waiting for a space to appear. Probably false economy really.

There are a number of public car parks, but if the thought of leaving your P&J in one of those worries you, then you may be better off looking for a space in a quiet residential street further inland from the busy seafront. This will inevitably require a bit of a walk in to the hospital, but is isn't a big town.

There is a little park and ride/walk which operates out of a small car park near the Knowle (East Devon District Council Offices). I had thought there were a few spaces directly outside the hospital, but I guess these will be very restricted and possibly staff only?

If I remeber any more suitable places I'll post up. I'm sure there are a couple of other locals on here who may know of some good spots.

Thankyou, there is a little car park outside the hospital, but i'm a little worried about doors being opened into my car, as older people tend to do.

Did I? That Journey was probably one of the worst I have done in a long time. I have never seen so many pensioners in one day!

I ended up parking in a public car park, the guy on the kiosk gave me a special spot without me even having to ask him, he even stuck bollards around my car. I rewarded him with a decent tip. My Dad was fine thanks, first time I have spoken to him since March, due to him being in a coma.

Yea I was in the green Focus and unfortunately my commute home is pretty much like that everyday! Well apart from not turning off home to Beer just so I can hear a lambo cruising along, I was hoping youd be able to pass a few people nuts

Glad to hear your dads on the mend biggrin
