Annoyingly, I had one of the wing mirrors kicked off the MX5 a few weeks ago. Doubly annoyingly, I went to adjust the other one today and it snapped off in a cloud of iron oxide!

Apart from eBay, is there anywhere locally that might be able to sort me out with reasonably priced replacements?>

There aren't many (any?) in Brizzle that I know of, and MX5's don't turn up very often in scrapyards.

There's a yard in Ashton, just next to the A370 and Winterstoke Rd, and a couple much further down the A370 I picked over as a student just after Cleeve (I think).

I usually use Harry Bucklands between Gloucs and Chelt on the Churchdown road.

All that said, I'd have thought Ebay would be your best bet for cheap MX5 mirrors. smile

Ebay ones are all coming up quite expensive, about 40 quid a piece. I'm quite tempted to simply stick some random wing mirrors on it. Can't be hard to bolt on...

Think I paid £40 for an electric one taken off of a black mx5, same as the one I lost, £40. Dead easy to fit.

If you're in north Bristol, Yate car breakers are ok, they are on the main industrial estate down there.

It looks really disorganised and the owners have a frankly terrible telephone manner but I've always managed to get what I've needed!

There's a bloke in Anchor Road with a green and brown one that's good for parts

rofl Thanks for that... Hopefully have a garage from tomorrow in order to keep the new mirrors safe.

Fingers crossed they're alright- seem like a bargain on face value!

Unless it's something more serious, Mk1s are notorious for the securing bolt breaking (it's mild steel, and nearly always wet).

You don't need to replace the whole mirror, you just need to replace the bolt inside, preferably with a stainless equivalent.

You can get suitable ones from screwfix, but eBay would do just as well.

I've got one of mine to do as well, broke off clean in my hand last week!

Long bolt, couple of washers, and a nut, job done.

^^^ The above definitely makes sense, I would have repaired them if it was just that one that was broken...

The new mirrors look great, seemingly very simple to fit- Will get some pictures when I get a chance to fit them. On the rates I've seen on eBay, I'll probably get £10-£15 for the broken mirrors too! hehe
