What is it?

A chance for us gals to drive some unusual and entertaining vehicles

Such as?

Fire engines, JCB's, ambulances, police cars, HGV's

Where is it?

Off Limits Activity Centre
Newthorpe
Nottingham
(near Ikea, just of J26 M1)

When is it?

Saturday October 14 2006

That sounds fun! How can I do this?

Register with

Regional Events Office (Midlands and Anglia)
Marie Curie Cancer Care
unit 9
Mobbs Miller House
Ardington Road
Northampton
NN1 5LP

01604 442317
midlandsanglia-events@mariecurie.org.uk

and pay them £20

What next?

You will get sponsorship forms and you have to raise a minimum of £100 to take part.

Anyone done this?

Yes I have and it was an absolute hoot! Hopefully see some PH ladies there then!

According to one of the instructors, the reason why there are no 'Gentlemens driving days' is that because women have nothing to prove to the instructors, things are more relaxed. Unfortunately they have found that you gents get a bit too competitive. They are in for a shock when the PH Ladies turn up then hehe

Yup. I had to sit on the sidelines and watch as Tracy won the last one Still having a proper petrolhead for a wife does have its benefits - no arguments or strops over wanting to buy silly sports cars But then again, she does expect to get the keys irked

I've enrolled this morning thumbup

For info, the afternoon session is booked up now. I'm on the morning, and Ace-T's asked for the same session. Come on girls - anyone else up for it and lunch afterwards?

Ali - I'm sure that either Tracy or myself will take you up on your generous offer.

Nope, not going this year Emms, we're still hoping that things will come together and our time and cash will be spent on a house move this year.

*** STOP PRESS ***

From the Marie Curie Ladies' Driving Day organisers:

"We are excited to see such overwhelming interest from ladies on the Pistonheads.com website. As a special 'thank you' we have approached PH member 'shapeshifter' who happily agreed to enter the Marie Curie Ladies Driving Day Arena in his £50,000 TVR Tuscan (no, we don't care how much it cost either, but he specifically demanded we should mention it in our press release) whilst we let you ladies loose in our brace of JCB's.

"Women can't handle the power of anything larger than a 1.6 litre hatchback, let alone a JCB", shapeshifter commented. "They'll drive into each other and create the biggest bright yellow pile up known to mankind before they get anywhere near me."

Are YOU ready to take up the challenge? There's less than 75 places open on the morning event, and we expect them to be snapped up rather quickly after this prss release, so book your tickets RIGHT NOW...

DISCLAIMER Programme subject to alteration as we fully expect shapeshifter to bail out on the last possible moment quoting that he had to take 'er indoors out fishing with their son. Which, as we all know, is a d**n lie. Women hate sitting at the verge of a lake for hours in wellies, doing nothing but stare into muddy water, with a passion. And right they are.
Ends. "

clap That must mean that my paperwork will be waiting when I get home as well.

Reverse steer should be fun - I would have won the autotest we did at work had it not been for the reverse slalom so I can't wait to learn about that.

Disappointed I won't get to drive a double decker bus though, I was looking forward to that bit.
