Soooo, anyone planning to be there?

I'm sort of hopeful that I will have a rather interesting bit of kit to take some 'different' photos. Some nice motors grouped artistically would be a perfect test and practice scenario, provided it's not hissing down.

I intend to be there, might be later on in the evening though, taking BG down to Phantom Motors on Saturday for some more work to be done (exhaust to downpipe blow and rear dampers), will be collecting it late afternoon on Tuesday and will come straight back to the pub.

I'll be missing this one I am sorry to say. I am racing on Tuesday night, all going well. Not in the VR6 but in my Mizunos.

Walking distance for me - though not with the kit I hope to have by then ...

Remind me what was there last month 53 - apart from your truck I recall a Cobra replica, MGB, Ultima Spider and other stuff still arriving as I headed north.

The chippy in Donington is pretty good as well. Or does the Crown do food in the evenings these days?

Erm i'm a newbie here (and i don't know if i'll be working or not - bar manager so possibly at night) but i don't think i'm too far a way in Coventry (Shardlow is in Derby right?).

I know it says its a classic meet, but what exactly is it? Wouldn't mind getting to know a few of the peeps here on PH so am considering blasting over for it? Would i be welcome in my 1992 Saab 900T?

G

Edit: oh and whats this starkholmes - is it a regular meet or something?

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=DE72+

The pub is pretty much on the sharp bend shown in Back Lane. Main Car Park is around that bend at the back of the pub.

General direction:

It's very close to the junction on the A50 which services Long Eaton to the North and Castle Donington to the south.

From that roundabout take what used to be the A6 towards Shardlow and Derby. Pass a large Chinese restaurant on the left and a short stub road, then take the next left just before you get to the traffic light controlled bridge.

Follow the road around and you will see the pub.

If you come from the Derby direction on the old A6 you need to pass all the way through Shardlow, cross the bridge and then turn immediately right.

There is a sign for the pub visible at the junction.

If you have a Tom Tom and mention Castle Donington within its hearing it will almost certainly direct you down the length of Back Lane which, being pretty much an unused and almost unusable road these days, is strange. But amusing. At first.

My dad and uncle go to the Shardlow meet every month. I've not been this year yet, and doubt I'll be able to get this month, but we'll see.

My dad might be in my car though.

I don't jog, I run!

They are indeed running shoes with an impact absorbtion system in place. Oddly, and annoyingly given that they were almost four times the price, not as comfortable as my Adidas cross trainers.

I have actually improved my speed, but I think that is down to weight training They are definitely more springy
