Is everyone happy with the fortnightly Starkholmes meets? or maybe a change of venue may be in order? Is Tuesday still OK, or do we want to change that too?

I like the pub and the chippy is OK, though very average, the car park and roads to it arent very good though.

Any ideas for an alternative venue?

Must have...

Good car park
Pleasant pub
Not too busy
Decent chippy nearby, or decent pub food on site on a Tuesday (or all week if we change the date)
Somewhere handy for Notts/Derby/Sheffield/Burton vicinity

Personally, I am quite happy as it is.

I like the format but the car park is far from ideal. Few weeks ago there was hardly space for half a dozen cars. Better would be a very similar pub in a similar location, with a big car park, no speed humps or naff roads.

I can't think of one, but there must be something out in the locality.

I don't know the venue, not having made one yet, but it sounds OK to me - if people do move it, PLEASE don't move it further from the west mids!

I like it as it is and the day as well It's nice to sit outside or in. I think it's a pretty good all rounder.

There was talk about another meal there sometime soon.

By some of my comments to Warren, I may have prompted this post. I'd like to assure you all, that moving the venue would NOT be for my benefit. I do not have a low car that can't cope with the roads or carpark, infact, quite the opposite. But I do think if we are to encourage some of the cars on the "whos in Derby" thread to come along, it may be advisable to at least think about it. John

It's alright for you lot with ground clearance.

I suppose until we atually run out of space then the car park is big enough.

If you fancy an occasional alternative perhaps on a different day and a little more southerly the John Thomas , er , no sorry, the John Thompson at Ingleby (south of Derby) might fit the bill.

Not sure about the chippy though. I think the nearest one is about four miles away, mostly along some pleasant country lanes which seem to lack large amounts of traffic. :-)

I think the pub could offer a service as an alternative to the chippy chase if necessary.

Several interesting routes to get there, and back, as well. Your choice of empty(ish) dual carriage or twisty cross country or a mix of the two if desired. Fairly large all tarmac car park if memory serves.

Perhaps worth testing as a guest location?

We love the pub but can take or leave the chippy.

Happy to try somewhere different though.

As I've said before, Tuesdays are not ideal for me but, y'know, I understand other people find Tuesdays good for them so....

Clipped the front-end on the ground a couple of times catching Minimax up on the lane by the pub on the way home.

Tuesday is the only night I can do as I train every other night. I would be willing to swop to a Monday occassionally.

I am happy with the venue. It is always good to try different places and have a change of scenery though. The road is pretty awful for the lower slung vehicles (and not to pleasant for those of us with hard suspension ). I can also see the car park overflowing now that it is summer.

1st Wednesday of the month is The Griffins Head at Papplewick
3rd Wednesday is Ye Olde Bridge at Oxton

Wish I'd took the camera to the last one, really surprised at the turnout, I'd guess at over 100 classic/sports stuff, Yank tanks, rally reps, (The Stratos was a kit car, ) and everything inbetween, and some great roads.

Don't feel qualified to comment realy as only been the once ages ago, but...

What about the Talbot or Bulls Head in Belper, large car parks and a couple of decent chippies in town. Easy access from Notts, Derby and Burton. Good food at each location if anyone fancies something more than chips.

(and they're both on my doorstep)!

These two meets sound a good replacement as well

The Papplewick and Oxton meetings only take place from May to September anyway.
