A46 roundabout Fu** up

They have now switched on the new traffic lights for the Hobby Horse roundabout on the A46. They seem to have totally messed this one up as the traffic was backing up to Anstey going in the direction Nottingham this morning. Its the worse I have ever seen it.
They'll count that as a success then ....
They put lights on the entrance and exits and also around the roundabout itself on the A38 roundabout near the Little Chef at Little Eaton in Derby. It was always busy here at rush hour, but it still flowed, at other times of the day it was clear in all directions and you would drive straight on, around and off. Now even at the quietest time of day it is worse than any rush hour ever was, and during the rush hour I now avoid it completely.
Another great success for the congestion creators, they are getting very good at it.

The Hobby Horse island is awful now. The way they've changed the lanes is likely to cause bottlenecks slightly further on. It's a shame as the simple inclusion of the new filter lane from Wanlip to Notts would have been a bif benefit.
Similar to J24 of the M1 then.
Heading home, northbound, at completely the wrong time yesterday PM I heard reports of queues from 23 to 24. Turned out to be 23a to 24 but just in case it was really bad I thought I would check out the parallel dual carriageway as access for the A50. Last time I had tried it during a general snarl up it took me 45 minutes to get from one roundabout to the next. Lights have been instaled and the J24 roundabout widened since then ...
So only about 30 mins last night (but then it wasn't a Friday like last time). Not helped by muppets driving down lane 2 and cutting in to lane one but then trying to take the middle lane onto the roundabout. Result? Left lane to turn onto the A50 empty from the point it splits into 3 lanes from 2. Meanwhile the muppets are trying to cut back into the right lane traffic to get to the middle lane onto the roundabout, blocking the left lane as they do so.
The right lane was pretty empty as well, tempting a couple of 4x4 drivers to take to the central reservation grass to make up spaces. I don't blame them.
The infrastructure of this country will fail soon if these alleged 'road planners' are left in charge.
I live near M1 J24 and take it from me DON'T GET OFF THE M1 AT J23a THINKING YOU CAN WHIZZ DOWN THE DUAL CARRIAGEWAY AND ON AGAIN AT J24 I see it regularly and it is never shorter than 3/4 mile queue to get onto the roundabout at J24 and quite often backs up as far as the roundabout where the services are. Big, actually make that BIG mistake ! It's much quicker to stay on the M1 - honest.
Here's another one to add the the 'lets narf up a roundabout' list - M42 J13 for Ashby de la Zouch/Coalville. They've change the lane layouts and added traffic lights. Only the lights don't seem to be linked (they certainly aren't in any sequence I can figure out) and the lanes don't flow as you'd expect. Turning what was an inconspicuous and quiet roundabout into a dodgem car fight with queues onto the roundabout from every road.
Thanks very much Derbyshire Council !
