I live in Nottingham and quite fancy a drive out on Easter Sunday quite early. Where would be some decent roads to go to? I was thinking Derbyshire way?

Any ideas?

Cheers

Drive to the Cat and Fiddle via Ashbourne?

Not sure of the road numbers, but a quick glance at a map should make it clear. Not sure if the road may be closed as a result of authorities bid to stop bikers getting killed. Best check first.

Might be worth noting that there is a RIPspeed event on at Donington Park over the weekend and I would guess that it makes a good excuse to have a special focus from a few directions.

So if I were you I would head East and enjoy the Leicester wolds east of the A46 or head west but avoid routes south of the A52 until well West of Derby.

The Cat and Fiddle is great, but in that area the police chopper is often reeling in the speeding fines from on high.

A610 out towards Matlock, turn left at Buckland Hollow by the Excavator pub to Heage, turn right to Belper. A517 to Ashbourne, then A515 up to Buxton and onto the Cat & Fiddle road.

I knew that Warren would be along to give you proper directions. I was following him the last time I went up that way.

Indeed! And afterwards come home via Market Harborough and take the B6047 up to Melton Mowbray - 23 miles of hoontastic road!

Howsabout a nice run down the A46,Just of the Lincoln bypass at Skellingthorpe theres a smashing little dairy icecream shop, good parking and toy tractors for you to play on!
And you can do a loop by going home A57 way. AND you drive by good old McD's for a Mcbreakfast.(but their icecream is crap.)

I'm thinking of going to the cafe just past the cat and fiddle for breakfast quite early tommorrow in the Atom. However I don't want to commit to anything as it will be very much weather dependant.

A614 towards Ollerton, turn off at Rufford through the ford to Wellow, take the back road towards Newark.
