It's the first round of the (HSCC)Historic sports car club championship on Sunday 2nd of April. It's a chance to see Morgans, E-types, TVR 3000's, Lotus Elans etc in the 70's roadsport class. Or what about Mustangs, Corvettes, Marcus 1800's, TVR Grantura's, MGB's etc in the classic car championship, and Mini Cooper's, Anglia's, Lotus Cortina's and Alfa's in the racing saloon championship. There's also historic formula Ford's and formula 3's, and a few classic formula 1 and formula 5000 cars too. Practice starts around 9.00 am untill 12.30 pm, break for lunch, then it starts around 1.30 pm with about 9 races untill 6 ish. Admission is £12 I think and you get to park on the in field area of the track and you can walk round the (newly rebuilt)pit area and garages to get a close up of the cars. It's a great day out and the chance to see some racing as it used to be in the 60's and 70's. I'll be there in the Chevy truck and I hope a few other PH's can make it too.
Cheers, Roger.

That sounds like a lot of fun.

It doesn't seem to be on Donington's website though

Thanks for the info

On the Donington park home page there's a calender on the left hand side. If you click on April 2nd it gives you the event and ticket prices. I've just double checked it is still happening before I wrote the reply !
Cheers, Roger.

This is in fact the very first official day for using the new facilities (assuming they are now ready ...).

Gives them almost a week to fix any problems before the Superbikes weekend!

Sounds like fun. We might pop along, as long as the sun is shining.

Well, we'll settle for no rain and no gale force wind. We're realistic.

If anyone can't make this date (me!), they are also at Cadwell on the 23rd of April.

I usually park opposite the garage area, near the start / finish line. You can see a fair bit of the track from there. It's great to see them flying down the Dunlop straight, breaking for Goddards, bit of opposite lock then nailing it down to Redgate. I'm realy looking forward to it - just hope the weather's good.
Roger.

I'll be there. In the Aston if its dry. I usually park inside the circuit, and move from the start straight to other areas of the track.

Might pop over if the weathers nice, and seeing as it's free toDPRAC members
If anyone visits Donington much joining the DPRAC is a must, if you go to everything you'll save over £200, not bad for a £15 outlay, and then there's the £5 trackday

*sigh*

Not that it will come as much surprise to the regulars but it looks like we might not be able to make this afterall. Little Lebowski has a band session from 11 until 2 on Sunday, which normally translates to them playing the last note at around 2 and 30 minutes packing up and high-fiving each other, whatever the equivalent that the kids do these days.

In practical terms I wouldn't be able to get there until 3.30-3.45.

Hope the weather stays good for you all.

I'll probably be there (at least in the afternoon) with the Retro track and air team.

We have a small silver Mercedes lorry, we're running a few things including an Elva-BMW and a very quick white-with-red-stripes Brabham BT21 if I recall correctly.
