Is this plod real?

Just come up the M1 from East Midlands Airport.
There appears to be an unmarked plod in an old black Honda Accord prowling around junctions 25 and 26.
He pulled a Lexus.
Accord had alternate flashing red tail lights and blue strobes in the grille and on the dash.
Does anyone know if he's real?
His pulling technique was more than a little dodgy. Behind the Lexus, he was very close and they both cut across from lane 2 or 3 to get to the hard shoulder. As he passed, the combination of his flashing back lights, stop lights and left indicator, right up the chuff of the Lexus, had us all momentarily confused.
Shortly before this, I passed him parked up on the hard shoulder with those back lights flashing, and he appeared to be looking at a map.
Anybody know which force polices that neck of the woods? He was just on the Leicestershire side of the Nottinghamshire border.

Hi, I saw this car about 3 weeks ago between Trowell services and 26. He'd stopped somebody so I saw the alternating tail lights. Didn't look at all like an umarked car. On the same strech I've seen a dark blue or black BMW 5 series recently. When I saw the Accord, an umarked silver Skoda Octavis had stopped someone near Kekworth (J24).
Yep the Honda is for real I came from my mother's last week and spotted him doing a U turn almost at the end of her street.
Off he went like a bat out hell (30mph ??) then went towards Junc 27.
10 mins later I went the same way and saw him stood at the burger bar just off Junc 27 supping tea with a marked BIB.
A couple of days later my wife comming off at Junc 28 sat next to the Honda at the lights as the lights changed she said it lit up like a christmas tree and went around the Island towards Mansfield.
Since she was going that way she spotted that he had pulled a lorry at the Designer Village slip road just off the A38.
Be warned guys it's a plain black Honda type R on an X plate and it looks like Junc 25 / 26 / 27 / 28 / 29 is its new prowling zone.
Just on another note Guys if say my wife on her own was traveling any of these routes and was flashed up be this BiB, how would the bib react if she did not stop until she reached somewhere where she felt save i.e a petrol station.
We all see the programmes on TV were guys have fitted police lights to an unmarked car then pulled it to rob the occupants.
The problem is unmarked police car's could be anyone ?

I saw him this morning, had pulled a car just short of the M1 junction with the A610 heading away from Ikea (you know, the 40 section that used to be NSL).
Was a bit of a 'cornerwise stop' and not in the best of locations, just after a blind corner and in the queue for the M1 junction.
I noted his reg as X578 CLE - anyone able to run a PNC? I am making separate enquiries, but so far I am told that Derbyshire Trafpol only have Omegas and Vectras.... The plot thickens!

Probably Notts force there. Also I think the Motorway oriented patrols tend to be grouped across orce borders with cooperative policing.
Most of the Derbyshire unmarked cars I have seen have been older style Omegas but the last one I saw on the A50 was something more up to date though at the moment I can't recall exactly what it was. Not a VX though.

Still free!! www.rac.co.uk/web/carbuying/vehicle_data_search/
X578CLE (Black Honda Accord Type-R) manufactured 16/10/2000, last owner change 1/11/2001.
I didn’t think the Plod bought cars second hand

In Warwickshire there is a black accord type R minus the rear wing and a silver one with the same "modification". I'm sure that the cars a probably rotated between forces and the Accord you saw sounds like the one that used to lurk on the A46
Cheers
