Last meeting there was a discussion about what you could get that was interesting for around £80k.

Well, with VAT this goes a bit over budget, but it would be great to add to the collection at the pub.

Anyone fancy the investment?

Loads! I'd go for a GT-500

I saw the Le Mans Coupe at Goodwood. Very nice!

That was me who initially mentioned £80K cars!

I am looking to spend about £80K next year on something a bit special and no more than 5 years old.

We spoke of an original AC Cobra and incredibly, I met someone the next day in Essex, with a 1968 'F' registered AC Cobra, with a tuned 427 engine.

I would not want something with antiquated brakes and suspension so I will be going for something Italian and V12 I think.

Do your homework very very carefully m'man. Italian V12's, either Ferrari or Lambo can be unbelievably expensive to look after. Take a look at the current 550 thread in the Ferrari section.... Don't get me wrong all italian metal is expensive to look after (an imminent £2166 is required for my reverse switch!) but the big uns even more so....

Awesome awesome machines tho'

Will have to be more sensible I reckon and lower my sights. Thanks for the input, hazy.

Twas I who suggested an AC Cobra (they've always been something of a dream car for me)
A slightly more sensible suggestion might be a Diablo. There are several in the Autotrader for £60k upwards.

Never before seen in the same sentence.

"Sensible suggestion" and "Diablo"

I shan't be there tonight as I have a ton of stuff to do before I disappear on Eurohoon. I hope you all have a lovely evening and I'll catch up with you in a couple of weeks.

Have fun in New York Tom
