I have just driven the most insanely fast car, one which made my Monaro feel very slow driving home.
2001, Nissan Skyline, personal import, 2 huge turbos. and 2 bigger intercoolers giving a faintly absurd 745 bhp and 670 ft/lbs of torque.
That thing was dead until about 2000 rpm when it woke up and then from 3000 rpm until around 7 it just went ballistic. Even raising the gearing to 'dull' the performance hasn't prevented the ride feeling like you were released from a catapault.
The owner talks of 0-100 in under 5 seconds and a 200+ top end. I won't argue.

especially since it is highly unlikely that the Ginetta will be ready after the lead time was extended for the 5th time today...turns out the differential really is shagged after all, which is what I told them from the start

I was visiting friends in mid-Wales and the guy with the Nissan, who lives in nearby Llandrindod Wells, came into the pub car park as we were leaving.
He drove mine and vice versa. He liked the quietness (?) and ride (?) of the Monaro, loved the feel of the big pushrod V8 and praised the low-end grunt.
BUT added that it felt "very slow for 5967cc".
(Sob). Bar steward.
I got the Nissan to around 150 mph and the acceleration was absolutely mind-blowing, BUT if you dropped below 2000 rpm it was a moped.

For anyone who doesn't know, the late Skyline has a mere 2800 cc but is twin-turbo.
This one has very expensive aftermarket turbos you could hide behind and intercoolers to block the sun from the QE2.
Actualy a mere 2568CC, hence the designation RB 26DETT.
RB is engine des, 26 = 2.6 litre, E = Electronic Engine Management and TT = Twin Turbo.
Could well have been running 2.8litre spec though via one of the off the shelf kits available.
Are you sure it had a brace of IC's? Very strange way to do things if that was the case, usual practice is to combine the outlet of both turbo's via a single FMIC's inlet tank. Also I'm absolutely amazed with turbo's sized to flow 380bhp each it did anything at all below 3250RPM.
Oh and I'd say the owner was pulling your leg with 0-100 in 5 seconds. 6.5'ish I'd guess at.
Still GTR's are a personal fave of mine.

It was certainly 2.8 litres, I know that. It was fully built and tuned by an American guy living in Tokyo and this fella bought the car ready to go and imported it.
(£51,000).
It has £20,000+-worth of engine mods. alone.
Like I say, it went like crazy from 3000 rpm to just over 7000 rpm, but was 'impossible' below 2000 rpm.
As far as the performance figures go, I am not so sure you are right. You have to remember that the thing has a dyno tested 745 bhp with the weight of Ford Focus. That is more power than a Pagani Zonda or Ferrari Enzo or McLaren F1.
