can anyone recommend a rolling road in nottingham?
Discussion
for my mini?
just got it back from the garage again (so that's complete suspension & brakes rebuild to add to the list) and it's running like shite because the mixture had to be weakened ridiculously to get it past the MOT I've turned it up a bit but obviously this is hitty missy so I need to get it sorted..
anyone help?
thanks

Pete Burgess up in Alfreton knows A-series engines like the back of his whatsit. The state of the workshop/RR can be offputting, but I have seen some impressive tuning in the past - though perhaps more tunign than problem solving.
Basford Dynotune I have never used, but think he has a reasonable reputation? Certainly been going a while.
There is also Bloor on Pavilion Road - again I have never used him, but often has interesting cars out the front, and the equipment visible in the workshop looks quite impressive.
I guess you sorted the engine/gearbox situation?

I did, at long last! I had to bite the bullet and pay for a rebuilt box from a chap connected to my garage - I know it's a ridiculous situation but I had absolutely no means of getting to you, and even less of an idea of how to get the engine to my garage man in meadow lane during business hours
there was no way to do it, I had no car, even if I had you can hardly put a 100kg weight in the boot of a small hatchback, there is only me to manouvre it so that was another problem, I work from 8am to 9-10pm weekdays and saturdays 9-4 and I have nowhere to put it at home so I was well and truly stuffed!
hey ho.
I still want it though!
just got to figure out how to get hold of it and where to store it...

Sure you can - collected engines and gearboxes in the back of teh Scirocco before
Anyway... it just so happens that last week I bought the wife a Volvo 740 estate - perfect tool for lugging engines, 'boxes, etc

interesting...I was put off going there when he got very stand off-ish when I politely enquired whether he was familiar with the A-series engine..
I feared potential arseyness if it came to revisiting time if he hadn't done it right or something like that plus I like to be able to trust mechanics and since no one I know (mechanics or otherwise) had dealt with him then I sort of decided against it. although because a good deal of people on PH recommend him I might nip the 1/2 mile down the road from work and go to have a chat with him to get a feel for the place...
Tom (who learnt the hard way about trusting garages)
MMMMMMMMMMM Strange that can't say I had a problem Geoff built me a 1.9 205 gti with a switchable two stage turbo producing nearly 200 horse (what a tool were are you now baby).
At the end of the day you have to go with who you feel is going to get the job done your way.
Good luck and keep us up to speed.
