"Natwest bank incident
Police are hunting a man who asked for advice about investing money at a Nottingham bank and then squirted a flammable liquid over a female employee.
The woman was talking to the man in an interview room at NatWest’s Carrington bank on the corner of Hucknall Road and Mansfield Road, when she was squirted with the liquid.
Police say the man, who was calm and had made no threats, only became aggressive when the staff member screamed and a colleague intervened. The man was locked inside a room but escaped by smashing through toughened glass and climbing out of a window on to Mansfield Road.
It happened on Tuesday evening (Nov 30) around 4.30pm, shortly before closing time.
Detectives at Oxclose Lane today appealed for help in tracing the offender who is described as black, in his mid-30s and between 5 ft 10 and 6ft tall. He was medium to stocky build and spoke with a foreign accent. He was wearing black trousers, a black bomber-style jacket and black hat with flaps covering the ears. He was also carrying a rucksack.
Det Sgt Lee Young said: “The man asked for advice about investing money and was taken into a private interview room. He didn’t make any threats and the woman only noticed something was wrong when she felt the liquid being squirted on her. She was pretty shaken up by what happened.”
Anyone who saw a man fitting the description in the Carrington area on Tuesday evening is asked to contact Oxclose Lane CID on 0115 9670999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
