Commuting into Birmingham
Discussion
Morning All,
I've got a meeting at 10.30am one day next week on Broad Street in Birmingham.
A colleague has advised me to get the train down but in terms of cost and getting straight home afterwards, i'm thinking of driving.
Found a cheapish car park nearby but chap i'm visiting (who works from home) has said that the tunnels are closed so it's chaos.
Had a look online and tunnels appear to be open now.
Is it still chaos? My aim is to get there for 10am ish and given what time i'm leaving home, i hope to be leaving the M6 at around 9am ish.
Coming from the North by the way.
Any suggestions welcome!

Getting in for 10am will be fine as you'll have missed the rush - other issues like accidents notwithstanding.
You will, however, have to deal with the roadworks on the M6. This is a 50mph zone that stretches from about J4A onwards. You'll need to get off at J6 (Spaghetti Junction) so this will inevitably slow you down a bit so bear it in mind as the volume of traffis is generally high at all times.
The tunels are open in the week so you'll be fine to cut through there and Broad Street should be less than 10 minutes after you've left the Motorway.

Personally I'd come down on the train, nothing worse than getting stuck in traffic knowing you are eating up any contingency time you gave yourself. The A38 tunnels are now open and running but I suspect by next week they will be as busy as usual with kids back at school and people who had half remembered about the tunnels now knowing they are open again.
