Hand car wash - Birmingham
Discussion
Evening all
I have defected from Essex to Birmingham for 3 weeks for a training course - can anyone recommend a decent hand car wash near the city centre?
Also any recommendations of decent places to drive to in the evenings would be appreciated, how far out do you have to go to hit some fun country roads?

Can't help you with the car wash but there's plenty of nice places to spend an evening for a meal/drinks etc.
Andersons in the Jewellery Quarter does a very cheeky line in food. You could walk there from the centre in about 10-15 minutes but the parking is free after 7pm on St Catherine's Square.
Brindley Place have a fair few hostelries. Cielo, Piccolino and Bank all do very good food although not as accomplished as Andersons. Bank has a hell of a selection of drinks, too.
For more 'pub' type places, The Old Joint Stock, The Old Contemptibles and The Duke of Wellington have some superb ales and imported beers to offer. All are within spitting distance of the town centre.
Marco Pierre White has a restaurant aloft The Cube. It's good food but tends to be full of people who like to be seen which can get pretty tiresome. Awesome view of the city, though.
The food is very good but can be beaten by what Andersons have to offer which is a far quieter and more relaxed atmosphere.

If you take the A34 Stratford Road out of Birmingham towards Solihull you'll drive past half a dozen hand car washes, some of them quite decent.
I'm told that none of the speed cameras in the West Midlands are switched on now too, should you select roads in the Clent/Knowle area (which geographically speaking is two very different areas some distance apart, but let's not split hairs), and be forced to accelerate to pass a pensioner in a Punto.
Have fun.

The static cameras have been turned off, but it appears that in addition to a increase in mobile vans (to 4) they will be trialling average speed check cameras
