Hi, i have a new job and will be driving from/to Towcester to Rugby most days...
anyone know approx where the scameras hang out?? Not so much the 30mph, but the NSL bits....
Cheers in advance
hi cheeky_chops
Sorry I have'nt got back sooner but I normally only look on "speed, plod and the law"
Anyway.
I have been doing the A5 run everyday, Rugby to Nuneaton.
There are no fixed cameras on this route, but recently I have seen mobile scameras on two occaisons; one outside the Hanover hotel, and the other near that Libertys place in the layby. I suggest you log onto www.speedorsafety.com/mobile_cameras.asp
To be honest, they have been where they say they will be, but I have only seen the vans in off peak hours, so I guess the A5 (this section at least) is not a priority for them).
Hope this helps

Cheeky chops - don't very often see scameras on the A5 south of Rugby.Have seen red boxer type vans used as scameras south of Kilsby.
The only other place i have seen them is in the laybys around the radio masts.(if yuo go into rugby via clifton) and they used to have a plug and pay setup at the end of butlers leap, but i suspect the traffic lights will have put paid to that.
As far as i know no fixed scameras towcester to rugby.
Favorite place in towcester is just before racecourse, between the 30/40 limit going south.
As for rugby - if yuo go into rugby via kilsby - both kilsby and the hilmorton road are scamera territory.
Blademan - no doubt you know of the Truvelo on the a47 into town, just before you go over the railway line opposite etone school. Be carefull in nuneaton as someone has been planting gatso seed all over town.

Have seen them quite a few times sitting in the parking area 1 mile down the A5 when it goes from single to dual carrige way (after a508 island).
They operate both northbound and southbound. A collegue of mine says that he has seen one late at night there (didn't think they operated in the dark )
Have also seen a bike getting people going northbound just on the way into towcester, but thats fair enough (loads of junctions and 30 limit)
Worth also keeping an eye on the bridges as you go through the MK section.
Then again its probably best just to ignore me as I can't read (just notced you are heading north )
