Hi, i'm trying to plan a good.. no... great steak meal for the next couple of weeks and wondering if anyone could recommend anywhere in the north worcestershire/south birmingham area?

Obvious choice was Marco's steakhouse on top of the Cube, but they are booked on the dates i have.
I have been to Anderson's before, which was okay too.

Anywhere else?

Many thanks!

Terrible place, relying on the name and location to hide, poor organisation, average food and high prices.

Also one in Hockley Heath. Can have a butchers in the McLaren/Rolls-Royce garage at the same time! I think Senna's F1 car is back in the McLaren dealer again.

I like Andersons in Birmingham as you mention, but you did not seem that keen!!

I have to say if you were unimpressed by Andersons, you will be very disappointed with Miller and Carter, its glorified Berni Inn type of steak.

We have been to the one is Shirley a few times, and tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, but the steak was only ever of average quality.

Why not try Peels Restaurant at Hampton Manor in Hampton in Arden, its our current favourite, but can be a bit fine dining, if you just want good track, ask for the Cafe De Paris Filet of the Bar menu, its what Mrs P has all the time!!

Also consider Carters of Moseley, but it can be hard to get a table.

We are off to The Lazy Cow in Warwick for out Steak tonight, will report back when we have sampled the fayre there!!

Fountain in Clent and the Bell and Cross both get a big thumbs up from me. Need to book for both. (Bit of trivia, the chef at the Bell and Cross and there sister resturant in Cutnall Green 'Chequers' was the chef for the England Football team for many years. Some great pictures on the walls.)

It's a good shout, but their steaks aren't anything special. Still a n ice place to go though.

I did MPW at The Cube on Wednesday night and had their 10oz sirloin with the instruction of being 'as blue as possible'. Given the cut and the cooking time, it was a superb steak. The quality of the rest of the meal was fantastic, too, as was the whole evening in terms of the service etc.

The Oak in Hockley Heath may be worth a shout. Not been there for a while but was impressed with it.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'm planning to work my way through this list, so if anywhere else springs to mind, please do share.

We went to the M&C in Solihull/Shirley in the end. Mrs A and I had the chateaubriand, which to be fair was very tasty and must have been more than the 16oz quoted on the menu. Nigel, I now see what you're saying - it didn't compare to Anderson's, which I really want to go back and try again (it has been a couple of years since my last visit).

It was a pleasant evening, so I took a detour via Hockley Heath to, much to my wife's delight, window shop at the Mclaren garage anyway (she's a Red Bull Racing fan) biggrin

Glad you had a good night, you went for the best option with then Chateaubriand ,it's the best choice on the miller and carter menu!
