Nottingham
This street used to be the most fashionable (presumably high rent) locale in Nottingham.
Now a planning application for HMOs above short lease shops.

But, almost perversely it's now got a higher occupancy of shops than any time in the last ten years. It's Fletcher Gate that's now tumble weed city. This street used to be the most fashionable (presumably high rent) locale in Nottingham.

Fletcher Gate doesn't have the same intensity of retail on it and IIRC it's all let except what used to be Element.
When ALB bought the units on Bridlesmith Gate I assumed they had their eye on resi in some way, shape or form. I am surprised they want HMOs there, though. But then, perhaps that is how they perceive the Nottingham market is, currently.
About a 100 years ago the Nottingham caves used to be accessed the first Sunday every month through a secret door opposite where Hippo's nightclub used to be. As impoverished stoooodents we took that tour a time or two. Then had a skinful at the Fountain, Bench & Bar and the Dog & Bear.

Nottingham caves are ace.
An aside: We have had quite a lot of dealings with Nottingham City Council of late and they would appear to be on their arse financially. Any opportunity to raise a charge for something, or fine someone, they are on it like a bonnet. Also selling off assets.
They are knacked. They've got several "heritage" buildings up for sale. It's all gone a bit quiet on selling council houses off & not spending the proceeds on capital items. There has, however, been an announcement that central government aren't now going to take over the running. An aside: We have had quite a lot of dealings with Nottingham City Council of late and they would appear to be on their arse financially. Just been into the city centre for the monthly haircut, it really has become a sthole and yet they are building more flats.
It's proper scruffy in the streets leading to Broadmarsh But, it's still a great place. True about student flats, I believe there are upwards of 60,000 students in Nottingham.

I think the city centre is appalling in most regards.
Had the misfortune of having to go there a few weeks ago - parked in the shiny new Broadmarsh car park and then had to endure the walk from there through what looked like the blitz had just happened.
It’s just an absolute sthole in general.
Yep, that end of town is a st show!Had the misfortune of having to go there a few weeks ago - parked in the shiny new Broadmarsh car park and then had to endure the walk from there through what looked like the blitz had just happened.

I would say that Nottingham is well resourced, in terms of amenities close to it. Trent Bridge, two football stadia, live music venues, near to countryside worth walking in etc etc.
But it's financially on its arse and I cannot see where salvation is coming from.
There's also Nottingham City Council, a more feckless body of lefties you will not find.
I'm properly hacked off. I was in the Castle Pub Saturday & all the councillors were in there & Lillian Greenwood MP. I think they instinctively know when not to make eye contact.
I got home to find that Mellen had been round and knocked on our door canvassing. I missed a great chance to tell them exactly what I think!

Shocking.
I had to make my way around all the cordons & finished up on Bentinck Road. I think in the end that's the very street where they captured the suspect.
It's all horrendous.
Ah, one of our chaps said they'd cordoned off part of Hyson Green. That'll be why.I had to make my way around all the cordons & finished up on Bentinck Road. I think in the end that's the very street where they captured the suspect.
It's all horrendous.
I haven't had my lunch yet, will I still be able to get to Hockley?

If not, I continue up to the Old Angel, turn right, left, up to Heathcoat Street and park there. If that fails, outside Prysm (The Palais de Danse to you Gramps).

Nottingham is bankrupt I see.
Perhaps they need some more successful ventures like Robin Hood energy.
School reunion was good fun, can't quite understand how a third of my class at the High School ended up as accountants.
I bet they don't work at the council!Perhaps they need some more successful ventures like Robin Hood energy.
