Military Planes at Newc Airport-28th Apr

Saw two large unmarked grey transporters arrive at Newc Airport between 4 and 6pm yesterday. Anyone got ideas what they were ?

Nope, but an Awacs plane flew over Hebburn a few days ago.

If they were grey then it sounds like rhey could have been VC10's which are occasionally known to use newcastle as a staging point when air to air refueling excercises are happening out in the North sea.

Could have also been C17's but these are really big.

The Awacs planes (modified 707) have a big rotating dome on the top and are also occasionally seen in the area.

Military planes are often used at airports to check accuaracy of ILS signalling and help with re-calibration.

Could they have been foreign mil planes coming to collect money? De la Rue prints money at Team Valley a lot of foreign currency goes through the airport as a result.
