I drive this road everyday to cramlington with gritted teeth.Does anyone know how a couple of hundred yards of 3 lanes near the metrocentre is going to ease northbound conjestion.Won't it just create it's own problems as the road returns to 2 lanes further on.Also why north and not southbound too which from anywhere between 2 and 6 o clock is just as bad.Anyone in the know out there with a few answers or opinions.

fk knows what they are doing with it, thankfully I get off the A1 at Blaydon on my way to work, any further south is usually completely backed up. Out of interest, they have put up a sign at the Scotswood/Blaydon exit with the men working / re-entering NSL depicted on it, but the NSL signs on the A1 itself are uncovered. So what's the speed limit, NSL or something else they aren't telling us? They used to make this cock up constantly on the northbound side of the carriageway at the same junction, I was certain they were going to pop a camera up one day and catch everyone blowing through the 50 zone that nobody knew about, at 70mph and above.

Whoever is in charge of that road at the minute is a complete and utter cretin, that's for certain.

The speed limit seems to be getting lower and lower, drove along it Sunday and I'm sure some parts of it are now down to 40, ridiculous when its not rush hour and you could happily be on your way doing NSL.

Also they're doing some weird things around Kingston Park area at the moment, dual lane roundabouts are now straight ahead in the right hand lane, with no traffic using the left hand land to turn left, and the road past the rugby club, which is single carraigeway, for some bizarre reason in the last day or so, give way to oncoming traffic signs have appeared, very odd when the road is wide enough to have a lane each way.

Presumably said cretin designed the new signalling on the A1/A69/West Road roundabout too:

- A69->A1 northbound filter lane - gone for no apparent reason even though it worked really well. Now have to sit at the lights and wait,
- 24hr operation of the lights even though there's no need for them whatsoever outside peak hours,
- Retained the dodgy filter off the A1 northbound onto the A69.

For me going right at the roundabout it has been a good thing since it has stopped all of the tits who are too impatient to wait in the queue in the morning in the left lane!! You know the ones that move into the R/H lane to slow that one down then back everything up even further by cutting back across when they have gotten to about 10 - 20 yards from the roundabout.

The traffic flow seems to have been eased considerably and I spend approx 5 mins less there most mornings now even without the L/H filter lane!!

As for the return trip home, The dodgy filter never seems a problem to me because I keep in the R/H lane on the way home!!
