South Shields - how many camera vans?

ok ok, this is now getting a little too much for me. Do the local camera partnership have some sort of plague on South Tyneside at the moment or what? I have seen the van parked up in Hebburn and Shields at least 6 times in the past week - it's crazy!
i'm all kitted up with my GPS unit and laser Jammer (well from tomorrow) but the old friendly law have bucked the trend with the latest vans and are using old style K band radar. I'm frightened to use my Elise anywhere now. Is it just South Tyneside or do you gus over the water have bother too?

I think they tend to target areas, hitting them as much as possible and getting the area a reputation for speed traps.
They are then free to go elsewhere, safe in the knowledge that someone will slow down, just incase they are there.
You've seen them in Hebburn six times - I bet you drive a bit slower there, just incase?

well, lets sort a few things first.
They all have to operate within guide lines set out by the safety camera partnership. This means they have to publish where the mobile units operate. This is shown on their website. But the get out clause is that they can operate the units where there is a general public feeling that speeding traffic is an issue. So this is why we see the vans often sited upon pavements all over the place..... hence a NIP through the post.
Another thing that gets me is that every zone where a camera operates has to have at either end of the road a speed camera sign, usually a 12 inch square sign permanently stuck to a lampost. But in one case recently I seen the camera van operator quickly tape a sign on a lampost 300 yards from the van. so if you drive that road often you wouldn't notice the temporary sign and run the risk of getting a NIP.
I hope I come accross a van soon as i'm gonna stop and see if they can spend a few minutes showing me what radar equipment they use and how they go about targeting drivers with this equipment, I assume that is a full blanket effect to catch as many cars as possible.
